Credentials Conferred June 2021
Langara's annual Convocation Ceremony was held virtually on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 6:00 pm PDT, where credentials were officially conferred by President Lane Trotter. Langara’s 2021 Convocation Ceremony featured a Convocation Address from Dr. Réka Gustafson, Vice President, Public Health and Wellness and Deputy Provincial Health Officer; well wishes from Nk'xetko, Mary Jane Joe, Elder-inResidence; a performance from Tsatsu Stalqayu, Coastal Wolf Pack; and a welcome into the Langara alumni family of Langarans from Moira Gookstetter, Director of College Advancement.
CONVOCATION ADDRESS DR. RÉK A GUSTAFSON Dr. Gustafson leads the integration of population and public health promotion, planning and prevention across PHSA’s clinical programs. In addition, she provides leadership to the BC Centre for Disease Control. As Deputy Provincial Health Officer, she is responsible for the delegated functions, duties and activities carried out under the Public Health Act. Réka completed her Master of Science, Master of Health Science and MD degrees at the University of British Columbia. She holds a fellowship in Public Health and Preventative Medicine and certification in Family Medicine. Before her current position, she practiced public health as a Medical Health Officer in Vancouver Coastal Health for over fifteen years.
