“Ho iniziato la mia carriera a Padova nel 1979” – ci spiega Fabio Tonello, presidente Antoitalia – “e ben presto mi sono trovato a gestire la dismissione di immobili cielo-terra su varie città italiane. Lo sviluppo del business immobiliare a cavallo del millennio mi ha portato a Milano, dove con altri quattro soci ho fondato Antoitalia. Il core business era – ed è ancora – la consulenza e intermediazione per la compravendita di immobili interi, in particolare trophy asset. Ma con un obiettivo più ampio e ambizioso, quello di diventare un vero e proprio full-service provider nel settore immobiliare”.

“I began my career in Padua in 1979,” says Fabio Tonello, Chairman of Antoitalia, “and very soon I started managing the sale of entire buildings and property portfolios throughout Italy. At the turn of the new millennium, growth in the real estate sector brought me to Milan, where I founded Antoitalia with other four partners. The company’s core business has always been advisory and agency services for the sale/purchase of entire buildings, in particular trophy assets. However, our wider and more ambitious goal has always been to become a full-service provider in real estate.”

Dall’inizio dell’avventura milanese sono passati tredici anni e dopo il boom è iniziata una crisi che sembra non vedere ancora la fine, almeno in Italia. Qual è il bilancio che può trarre per Antoitalia? Il bilancio è positivo. Il mercato è cambiato molto rispetto a quello ante-crisi, sia dal lato della domanda che dell’offerta. Il perdurare della crisi ha provocato una drastica riduzione nel numero di operatori e una concentrazione dell’offerta, a fronte di un drammatico ridimensionamento del numero di transazioni. In uno scenario così complesso e certamente non facile abbiamo continuato a “crescere” in modo orizzontale, con alleanze strategiche con altri operatori e anche entrando in “nuovi territori”, come la gestione diretta di alberghi e luxury serviced apartments.

Thirteen years have passed since the beginning of your venture in Milan. The real estate boom has come to an end, replaced by a recession that is still here, at least in Italy. What’s your assessment for Antoitalia? My assessment is a positive one. The market is very different from before the economic crisis, both on the demand and the supply side. The ongoing recession has caused a dramatic reduction in the number of players, leading to a concentration on the supply side. At the same time, the number of transactions has plummeted. In such a complex and farfrom easy scenario, we have continued to grow horizontally, through strategic alliances with other players but also by entering new fields, including managing hotels and luxury serviced apartments.
