The Caribbean is bouncing back in a big way after the devastation of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria in the fall of 2017. As usual, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line is in the thick of things in the islands. After deploying three ships to help transport supplies and evacuees in the wake of the storms, Royal Caribbean has been bringing muchneeded business to revamped ports such as San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Philipsburg, St. Maarten, since. The 2019 cruising season will be no different, as Royal Caribbean is deploying a fleet of ships to wonderful ports across the Caribbean. Cuba is a destination worth exploring, and the Empress of the Seas and Majesty of the Seas will head there on four- or five-night cruises, with Havana and Cienfuegos both being ports of call. On Oasis class ships -- Allure, Harmony, Symphony and Oasis of the Seas -- plus the Quantum class Anthem of the Seas, guests can take advantage of the exclusive experiences and included amenities offered in the Royal Suite Class, featuring Sea, Sky and Star ccommodations. In Sea, enjoy Mediterranean-inspired California cuisine dinners at Coastal Kitchen before laying your head down for the night of luxury pillow top mattresses. L’Occitane bath amenities will give you all the comforts 3

of home right there in your spacious suite as you cruise the high seas. In addition to the Sea amenities, with Sky, you’ll have priority reservations at Coastal Kitchen each night and reserved seating in select entertainment venues, plus exclusive access to the Suite Lounge with its stunning ocean views and complimentary cocktail hour. Complimentary VOOM, the fastest internet at sea, is included in your suite. The concierge team will help you make reservations for shows and early access to signature activities such as FlowRider, Ripcord by iFly and the rock-climbing wall. At Royal Caribbean’s private port in Labadee, Haiti, Sky guests can enjoy a private cabana at Barefoot Beach Club. Sky brings a new definition to VIP. Your Royal Genie grants exclusive access to the every show, every restaurant and every activity. It’s the best of everything on board. The Royal Genie makes the entire ship and beyond an extension of your suite, with private experiences such as FlowRider lessons and personalized shore excursions. Celebrating a special occasion? Have your Royal Genie set up a private cocktail party with the executive chef. Before you even step on the ship, your Royal Genie will get to know you and family, ensuring your massive suite is filled with your favorite

treats. When you arrive, your Royal Genie will greet you and help you with boarding, continuing that personalized service in most ports and upon departure. Gratuities are included, as are deluxe beverage packages to help you relax after a full day of adventure. Labadee offers so much more than lounging on the beach in your own private cabana. There’s the world’s longest overwater zipline, covering more than 500 feet on the Dragon’s Breath Flight Line from a hilltop perch to a landing platform on the beach. For more thrills, coast down the mountainside at 30 miles per hour on the Dragon’s Tail Coaster. Once your stomach returns to its rightful place, sample local specialities at any of three beachside cafes. At Cococay, Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas, snorkel among coral reefs, colorful fish and sunken

wrecks or ride a waverunner down the coast. If you’re feeling adventurous, get a bird’s-eye view of the island on a parasail 400 feet up. Take a guided nature walk that ends with kayaking or take the kids to Caylana’s Aqua Park. Exhausted from even thinking about all that? You can relax in a hammock, getting up only when it’s time for the beach barbecue, or lounge by the floating bar. Yes, the Caribbean is back, and while Royal Caribbean never left, the experience is now better than ever.

STAY

INSIDERS CLUB Condado Vanderbilt Hotel, San Juan There’s a storied history behind the Spanish Revival facade of classic Condado Vanderbilt Hotel. Built in 1919 by Frederick William Vanderbilt as a high-toned tropical retreat, the 319-room hotel soon became the center of island society, welcoming everyone from Errol Flynn to President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Its graceful archways and sweeping staircases harken back to those bygone days, while a meticulous renovation brings 21st-century elegance. Native son Chef Juan José Cuevas returned from the Big Apple to create a tantalizing, island-sourced menu. Couples of all kinds bond over the spa’s Time for Two journeys.

7

The restaurants include one featuring traditional French cuisine and another highlighting Mediterranean cooking. In addition to sunbathing on Baie Longue beach or by either of the two pools, enjoy spending time at the spa, playing tennis, snorkeling or sailing on the Caribbean Sea.

9

Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort, Spa & Casino Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort, Spa and Casino is an elegant, 12-acre resort situated right on the beach and offering every watersport imaginable.
