Maldivian Makeover Name a wellness resolution – better sleep, less stress, lounging on a beach-club deck with a sundowner in hand (no judgment) – and the Maldives’ newest eco-luxe resort stands ready to help you accomplish it. Opened last month, the 68room Joali Being invites travelers to tune out on an Indian Ocean islet where Zen-inducing overwater villas come with private pools and meditation tools, and mornings are spent strolling forested soundhealing paths or soaking in the hydrotherapy hall’s hammam. Guests can head to the spa for energy-balancing massages, Watsu therapies, and other treatments to their chakras’ content, or commit to a custom well-being program focused on one of four subjects: mind, skin, microbiome, or energy. Nature-based amenities include a turtle sanctuary, as well as an herbology center and a food hall with menus dedicated to vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian cuisine. Intensive well-being retreats range from six days to three weeks, but serenity starts with the floatplane’s touchdown. Villas from $2,142, including breakfast daily and a $250 spa credit.
