Singing Arrow Poetry
Spring 1999
In the Spring of 1999 I taught a weekly workshop for children in the Singing Arrow Community Center, (Dorado & Singing Arrow, vicinity of Central & Tramway) in Albuquerque. This was part of Magnifico, the Albuquerque Festival of the Arts and a spring poetry celebration, Poetry Habitat, one of the many wonderful activities of the New Kimo Public Art Project with the late Gordon Church, Program Manager.

Singing Arrow is alive with everything from bingo to poetry, billiards to soccer, doing artwork to doing homework, playing Nintendo to watching movies, and yes, doing poetry. We knocked out quite a few poems and made some fun crafty-wordy things like a square planet with make-believe continents and a playhouse named All the World’s a Stage, after the greatest Bard of all. But mostly we wrote poems and recited them to each other and drew pictures and made up stuff. What fun in all this mayhem. Thanks to all the kids and all the staff for all your help! Larry Goodell Spring 1999, Albuquerque
“It seems the kids like the extra attention, a place to get their creativity out and work together. Also to feel they have accomplished something special.” Jennifer Widener
