Meeting the Gang Mary Farrell is a sweet, innocent, 15 year old girl who everybody loves! If her style was to be described in one word it would be preppy. On the weekend she can be found watching Netflix, swimming, or going to the mall. She is on swim team and enjoys playing many different sports, such as tennis, cheerleading, horseback riding, and soccer. If she was given a chance to be a model, then she would deny it because it objectifies women and seems boring. Her favorite piece of clothing is her jaguar jumpsuit. When she grows up Mary wants to be a pediatrician because she loves being around kids. Mariah Mackey’s personality would be described as crazy bold. Mariah is a beautiful 14 year old girl who loves baking. One word to describe Mariah Mackey’s style would be eccentric. When she isn’t baking she can be found playing on her phone or shopping online, especially for Samsung electronics and phone accessories. When she grows up Mariah wants to be a lawyer because she loves to argue.

Abby Bourgeois’ personality described in one word is creative. Most of her clothes are hand-made by her. Whether it’s a dress, a skirt, or simply a shirt, Abby makes it all. Besides making her own clothes, Abby is a strong-willed, kind-hearted girl. Not to mention, she has a lot of pets! She has two dogs, six ducks, a fish, and a bunny. When she is not taking care of her pets, you could find Abby running, hanging out with friends, or throwing knives for fun. She is an adventurous, fifteen year-old LASA student who wants to grow up to be a successful fashion designer or landscape architect. Vanlexus Franks is a mature and well-rounded 15 year old girl with a talent for technology. If she could describe herself in one it would be sophisticated. She is the mediator of the group and can usually be found doing homework a week before it’s due. She loves to shop, but only if she can save money when doing so. Her love for food comes second only to her love for learning. She is always looking for a new way to do something beneficial for building her character, but it’s a plus if she can get paid while doing it.

Caitlyn Wilson is an extremely bright and athletic 15 year old girl with a passion for Marvel super heroes. She would describe her style as tomboy casual. If she could describe herself in one word it would be competitive. On her free time she enjoys watching anime and playing sports such as volleyball, basketball, and track. She has a huge obsession with Captain America and tries to incorporate him into everything she does.

Smoky Eyes

getting back to basics With

By: Mariah Mackey A smoky eye is a look that’s simple and suits any girl for any occasion; yet it never fails to make a statement. In addition, the color of the eye shadow you use is up to you as long as you’re happy with it and it suits your style. Here we will show you how to achieve that classic smoky-eyed look in eight simple steps: Things you will need: • White eyeliner (An eyeliner pencil was used, but any type would work) • One light eye shadow of your choice (A light tan was used) • One medium and one dark-toned eye shadow (A brown and dark brown eye shadow was used, but any color would work) • A dark eyeliner (Black eyeliner was used, but depending on the colors you used the color of the eyeliner could change) • One highlighting eye shadow to highlight the middle of the eye (Golden shimmer was used, but any would work)

By the time she decided to go back to what she really loved and went to fashion school she was already married and had kids, so it was too late to pursue a real fashion career. “Doing the creative stuff was always the best part. I loved sketching and actually making clothes. That was so much fun. Now, unfortunately, as with every creative sale, you have to do the business. I don’t really like that very much. The fashion world is all about the newest trends and being the leader in the frontier of clothing, makeup and beauty. “The high fashion world is made up of people that are not only creating the boundaries, but a lot of the time they are also the ones to break or cross those boundaries,” Robinson said. The clothes that have graced the runway have a great effect on the clothes in the department stores. When a new trend comes out, the style eventually trickles down and starts appearing in the department stores.

I think you just can’t go wrong with a bunch of white and then another color.” Berndt’s personal favorite go-to color was blue. “Pretty, turquoise blue, or really any blue... because blue is a very calm color. And it’s been proven that people feel calm when they see blue. So I’m just trying to make people feel comfortable around me!” Berndt said. Hyams also spoke very enthusiastically about the color blue. “I wear a LOT of blues! Every time my sister and I do laundry, which is like, you know, every couple of months…Just kidding!! I do laundry. We always have the biggest blue load, just because, you know, It’s blue, it’s CLASSIC!” Hyams said. “Blue jeans, blue shirts, THE WORKS….” Both seniors agreed in general that solids were always good base colors, preferably pri-

mary colors or black or white. “If I were going to a black tie affair, I would probably try to find...a black dress, because that’s one of the CLASSIEST colors you can get,” Hyams says. Berndt disagreed. “Definitely white, because black makes you look pale. If you wear white, it makes you look really tan, first of all…And, I like to look tan, I’m really pasty right now and it’s kind of disgusting, but anyway! And you can accessorize with cooler colors, like if you wear a white dress you can wear like, a cool colored pair of shoes, or like, red lipstick. White is just better. It makes you look better,” Berndt said. Hyams’ opinion differed. “White would make me stand out compared to everyone else,” Hyams said, “but black

“Red is bold, and, sassy, and,it just shows that you know what the heck you’re doing.” -Leah Berndt would just make me look classy AF. Because you know, wearing a black dress is just rockin! Most of my dresses have been black for the past couple of years,” Hyams said. In general, the two reached an unspoken agreement that white or black was always a good choice for a formal event. However, the two did agree on one thing. When talking about colors that popped, Berndt said without hesitation, “Red. Because red draws everybody’s eye. Like, in artwork, if you put a little piece of red in a painting, then everyone will look at that. Everyone looks at red. Cause red is bold, and, sassy, and, it just shows that you know what the heck you’re doing.” Hyams agreed, saying, “Most likely RED is definitely probably one of the most attention-grabbing things you can wear on your...

fashion body.” “The color white is just SO beautiful, that it makes me happy and confident.” Hyams gushed. “But I would also say it’s really not just about the color, it’s more about the actual pieces too. And by pieces I mean clothing...things because you don’t understand my very, um...high fashion.” Hyams said. She had much valuable information on this topic. “So if I am wearing shorts that are SO CUTE then I’m more confident! That’s like the gist of it.” The senior said. “Also, wearing cowboy boots is the most number one confidence boost because when you walk around the hallway in cowboy boots, it just adds a spring in your step, and, you just really can’t help but like, STRUT your stuff while you walk...it’s unavoidable. But I would not say that BROWN is the most confidence boost color...” Hyams says.. “Also if someone were to wear brown and yellow I would be somewhat confused... And like if someone were to wear all pink and they were over the age of like, fourteen I would also be a little...concerned, but...You do you!” She said. Berndt said, “Probably, well, white because it makes me look tanner, first of all. And turquoise blue! Because my eyes are kind of, they’re not turquoise blue

but, when I wear turquoise blue, my eyes turn a pretty blue color, because they turn colors depending on what color I’m wearing. So I like wearing that color, or dark green, because then my eyes will also turn dark green!” Berndt says. “But yeah! Pretty much just blue or white!” Berndt also expressed her opinion regarding red. “I think of fire. It’s bold. Like, really confident people can wear it. Although red is also almost... angry. But sometimes those can go together.” She said. Both seniors also shared another point regarding this topic. “Black is a slimming color. But honestly, also, like, depressed. And like gothic. Because if you wear black every freaking day and that’s ALL you wear, it’s not happy. It’s a sad color. If you wear ONLY black all day, every day, then that’s just kind of like TOO much black. You need more happy colors,” Berndt said. Hyams agreed with this sentiment. “If someone were to wear all black in the middle of the summer I would just feel sad for them,” Hyams says. “But I mean some people really like the color black and I know it makes some people feel comfortable about their bodies, so that’s also okay, i guess…” Hyams confessed her infatuation with comfortable leggings.

Emma Hyams modeling a signature outfit “I LOVE wearing leggings, like I wear leggings basically every day, and so...mm... that is a lot of black... I do have a pair of grey heathered leggings, though, so it’s all balanced!” Hyams said. However, she was at first reluctant to reveal exactly how many pairs were in her prodigious leggings collection. “W-well, I...

Okay, I have-I mean, I have like four pairs of normal, like cotton leggings, and then I have one pair of Nike leggings, that are cropped. And then I have three pairs of Lulu Lemon leggings. I really like those, because most of my normal leggings are so annoying since they are basically old and RUINED. So I really don’t like to wear those.” Berndt is also a big fan of leggings. She especially favored them on casual days. “Sometimes I’m just like, ‘I really don’t want to work hard on my outfit right now because i don’t feel like putting effort into going into my closet,” Berndt says. “So I probably would wear leggings, and a big t-shirt because it’s comfortable--That’s the best when I just don’t feel like picking out clothes. Cause that takes a lot of effort! And then when I’m feeling really good and motivated then i’ll wear, like, a cuter outfit, like a dress, and like heels!” Hyams thought similarly to Berndt on this

Leah Berndt modeling a signature outfit topic, saying, “A bad day would just be a kind of a lazy day, and I would probably wear leggings and a tshirt, a long sleeved t-shirt, or shorts. Oh!! And on really bad days I wear my Ugg slippers outside of the house,” She said. “Or I’ll wear my birkenstocks, with socks, sometimes, outside of the house...that’s kind of a bad day.” Berndt, when asked about some of her current favorite fashion statements, said, “I have a lot of pairs of booties. I think ankle booties, that have a bit of a heel on them, are really cute! You can wear them with dresses, or like, jeans, if you wear jeans. Also riding boots are very in right now, I like riding boots. Also I like wearing scarves but, not all the time, because sometimes they get really hot. And earrings! I like wearing Kendra Scott earrings. Red lipstick is also a favorite,” She said. Hyams said, “Favorite accessories? Ooh!! Well if I’m SO happy, I would wear earrings. I’m wearing earrings right now. Okay, that’s the best quote. ‘I’m wearing earrings right now.’ Can you quote

me on that?” To wrap up basic colors, Berndt said, “I just think if there’s a lot of colors, it looks really bad. But, if it’s like a couple colors, it’s good. If you wear white, or black or grey, or something, and then you have like, a really pretty colored scarf, or a really pretty colored jacket, or pants that are a color, and then your top isn’t an overwhelming color, that’s perfect! There just has to be a balance, because if there’s too much of every single color, then that’s obnoxious. And you look like tie dye. Like rainbow tie dye. I have a rainbow tie dye shirt, but I don’t wear it out in public,” Berndt said. Hyams also expressed a dislike of tie dye in everyday wear. “I suggest AGAINST wearing tie dye, because tie dye’s kind of funky,” She said. “And I think EVERY color’s good with white. I just think a bunch of white and then another color looks fabulous. Also with black, I’ll wear black, and then for instance a colorful scarf in the winter.”
