Happenings

Mom Was Right! Porridge Saves Lives You can still hear her voice ringing in your ear, “drink up the oats porridge, it’s good for you!” Almost every Jamaican child has memories of their mom placing a bowl of steaming hot porridge before them, with pressing encouragement to drink every last spoonful of it. Once again your mom has been proven right. A 2015 Harvard study of 100,000 people found that those who regularly ate a bowl of oats porridge had a 5 to 20% lower risk of dying from heart disease. The study was done over 25 years and the participants who consumed a bowl of oats per day were found to live longer. Oats porridge is great source of potassium, iron, calcium, vitamins E and B , magnesium and protein which are great for heart health. You and your family can get your daily vital vitamins and minerals in a tasty and convenient pack of LASCO Oats Porridge Mix , available in banana, cinnamon or plain. The LASCO Rolled Oats is a great alternative for a thicker texture.
