LAS COLINAS ASSOCIATION ANNUAL REPORT The unique master-planned development where life and business thrive
CHAIRMAN’S & PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Las Colinas is experiencing growth that has not been seen in some time; possibly not since the 80’s. Visible signs of this growth were evident throughout the community during 2016. Your Board and Executive Management Team eagerly embraced the opportunities that this growth presented. The Las Colinas Brand is as important today as it has ever been in the past. Mustangs have long been associated with Las Colinas. They officially found their place in the logo and brand for Las Colinas in 1997. The Mustang is symbolic of the strength, resolve and power that has been associated with this development since its inception in 1973. The original mustang logo served Las Colinas well, but the Board felt it was time to modernize with something more relevant to the present and future of this dynamic development while retaining the past from whence we came “El Ranchito de las Colinas” or the Little Ranch in the Hills. The logo is displayed throughout our annual report, on all corporate documents and will soon be on all Las Colinas flags. The Community of Las Colinas grew in acres again during 2016, and also in open space available to our members and the public. Villas at Las Colinas, a 55-lot single-family residential project, and Villas at Mustang Park, a 77-lot single-family residential project, were added to properties covered by the Master Declaration. Lindamood Park, a joint venture with the City of Irving, opened during the year with amenities for children and adults alike. “New Beginnings,” a beautiful sculpture piece created by Dale Lamphere and donated by the Las Colinas Parks Foundation, found a permanent home in the recently dedicated Flagpole Hill Park Sculpture Garden. Irving Music Factory and Water Street both made tremendous strides towards completion, adding entertainment, restaurants and other retail that will help identify Las Colinas as more than a name but rather a destination Place. Both projects are slated to open during 2017. But these projects are not alone. Nine other projects totaling 197,438 square feet were also approved during the year. Las Colinas is Home to approximately 49,723 residents, both single-family and multi-family. New homes totaling 204, were approved during 2016, making Las Colinas an even more attractive place in which to live. The Weaver and Tidwell accounting firm conducted an audit of the Las Colinas Association financials for the 2016 fiscal year. The firm’s audited financials can be found in this annual report. The financial position of the Las Colinas Association remains strong. Reserves are in place to insure long-term stability. Our members and community partners continue to use the community space located in our corporate headquarters. We invite you to come by and see our facility if you have not already done so. Security Services rolled out a wireless, radio based alarm monitoring system as an additional benefit to our members. This could eventually replace landline systems. It has been a pleasure to manage and guide Las Colinas in 2016. Your seven-member Board of Directors and two ex officio Board members, including the Las Colinas Association President, take their individual and collective responsibilities very seriously. Strategic planning continues to be the foundation for our decision making. We seek your thoughts and input as to how Las Colinas can showcase its diverse residential population and its vast commercial presence. 2016 was another great year for the Association and the Las Colinas community, and we expect the same in 2017.
