Wing 2

Urania Ripheus Definition of Grafting: Grafting is an advanced technique that botanists, farmers, gardeners, and hobbyists use to add living tissue from one plant to another. Plant tissues have the ability to grow new vascular tissue, and the process of grafting takes advantage of this ability. The vascular tissue of the main plant joins with the vascular tissue of the added plant, keeping the new tissue alive and growing. This is a way for plants to reproduce asexually.

• Joining together through tissue regeneration. Grafting is the act of placing a portion of one thing into another so that a union will be formed LASHUN COSTOR

Design Notes

• Use collages as footnotes to pull inspiration from artists and muses through collaboration to bring an idea to full fruition. Starting in November 2021 Inspiration: Creating this collage started with my love for patterns, colors, and Insects. I gravitated towards beetles, moths, portraits, and 19th-century jewelry.

Photographer: Luis Guillén for muse Destiny Owusu, muses Movakween, Bukola, and kyle Malanda.
