LAST RITES GALLERY is delighted to present “Nomadic Nights”, a solo exhibition featuring new character driven paintings by artist and illustrator Shane Pierce.
A natural storyteller, Pierce illustrates an ominous narrative with a cast of wandering subjects. The tight, expressive features of his characters, known as Nomads, pair the dark atmosphere with an almost erratic energy to the landscape around them. Traveling salesmen donning briefcases of proverbial baggage, bearing their dark secrets and conflicting emotions of regret. Viewers are invited to observe a contemporary noir world through compositions that teeter between reality and lucid dreams.
The idea of Nomads is a reflection of Pierce’s multifaceted career as a creative, shifting from; animator to architectural draftsman to video game concept artist, albeit always circling back to his true passion of painting.
