LTAC MISSION STATEMENT The Louisiana Tech Athletic Club is the athletic fundraising arm of the Division of University Advancement. Our mission is to provide 300+ student-athletes a first-class experience and support in their pursuit of academic and athletic excellence. 1

LOUISIANA TECH FOOTBALL AND MEDCAMPS Last July, the Louisiana Tech football program hosted 55 campers from MedCamps, a Monroebased non-profit organization that provides free residential camping for children with chronic illnesses and disabilities. The group went through football drills, toured the football team’s locker room and weight room, and most importantly, had an opportunity to share in some smiles and fun.
DOGS WITH A CAUSE Dogs with A Cause is a character education program that began in the fall of 2016 and is a collaborative effort between Louisiana Tech Athletics and the College of Education Clinical Residency Center. Directed by Dr. Amy Vessel and Assistant Athletic Director for Academics Amber Burdge, Louisiana Tech student-athletes are “coached” by clinical residents as they prepare to team teach in their adopted classrooms at local elementary schools. The program engages residents in curriculum design, provides our student-athletes an opportunity to interact with local children, and makes a difference in the lives of each person touched by the program.
LOUISIANA TECH BASKETBALL COSTA RICA TRIP In August, the Louisiana Tech men’s basketball team took part in a seven-day foreign tour to Costa Rica. During the trip, the group visited a local elementary school in one of the poorer districts of the capital city of San Jose and hosted a free youth basketball clinic. “It was a great experience seeing these kids,” Senior Derric Jean said. “Very humbling. They are not exposed to a lot. They are not able to do a lot of outdoor activities. It was great to come and have fun with them, see the joy on their faces. Hearing their stories, it warmed my heart being able to spend time with them.”
LOUISIANA TECH ATHLETICS AND THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS Last April, over 50 Louisiana Tech student-athletes from multiple sports volunteered to help with the biannual North Central Louisiana Special Olympics Track and Field Meet at the Jim Mize Track and Field Complex. With the assistance of the North Central Louisiana Special Olympics board, MedCamps of Louisiana, SAAC, the kinesiology department and numerous sponsors, the event brought out over 130 kids from 13 local schools. Football student-athlete Shane Carpenter said it best: “You think you are going to come out here and make these kids day, but then they end up making yours. They make your world. It is a lot of fun hanging out with them and giving back.” 7

COMPLIANCE For more Information, Contact Mary Kay Hungate at 318-257-5654 or MHungate@LATech.edu TERMS TO KNOW Prospective Student-Athlete (PSA or "Recruit"): A prospective student-athlete is a student who has started classes for the ninth grade Representative of Athletics Interest or "Booster": An individual, agency, entity, or organization who: • Has participated in or been a member of an agency or organization promoting the institution's intercollegiate athletics program; • Has made financial contributions to the athletics department or LTAC; • Has assisted or been requested (by the athletics department staff) to assist in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes; • Has assisted in providing benefits to enrolled student-athletes or their family members; or • Has been involved otherwise in promoting the Louisiana Tech athletics program. Recruiting: Recruiting is any solicitation of a prospective student-athlete or a prospective student-athlete's family members by an institutional staff member or by a representative of the institution's athletics interests for the purpose of securing the prospective student-athlete's enrollment and ultimate participation in the institution's intercollegiate athletics program. Student-Athlete: A student who presently is participating in intercollegiate athletics or has participated in intercollegiate athletics and is still receiving athletics aid. Extra Benefit: An extra benefit is any special gift or arrangement provided to a student-athlete, or student athlete's friend or family member, which is not available to the general Louisiana Tech student body. PROSPECTIVE STUDENT-ATHLETES NCAA rules prohibit boosters from engaging in recruiting activities. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A RESTRICTED GIFT AND AN UNRESTRICTED GIFT TO LTAC? Restricted gifts are designated to a specific program, facility, or project. Unrestricted gifts through LTAC go directly toward the general athletic scholarship fund and help offset departmental expenses. Only unrestricted gifts secure LTAC member benefits.

IS MY GIFT TO LTAC TAX DEDUCTIBLE? According to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act enacted on January 1, 2018, any contribution that is used to receive ticket benefits (i.e. priority seating) is no longer tax deductible. However, philanthropic giving above and beyond seating donations is still 100% tax deductible. Please consult with your tax advisor for information on how these changes affect your personal income taxes.
CAN I JOIN LTAC IF I DON’T HAVE SEASON TICKETS? Yes! As a member of LTAC, you join more than a thousand alumni and friends who collectively contribute each year to excellence at Louisiana Tech. Your support helps provide academic support services, sports-specific equipment, sports medicine, nutritional guidance, strength and conditioning, and travel for our student-athletes.
WHY IS MY LTAC GIFT DUE ON JUNE 1ST? To maintain the department’s goal for fiscal responsibility and accountability, it is important that we can accurately project revenue for planning and budgeting purposes. LTAC is a crucial part of our annual budget, and having this revenue secured at the end of the fiscal year allows us to responsibly project our expenses for the upcoming year.
CAN I PAY MY LTAC GIFT IN INSTALLMENTS? Yes! A variety of payment options are available. We will also work to accommodate your requests in regard to your payment schedules.
