Matt Terry enters his fifth season at the helm of the Bulldog golf program in 2022 after leading the 'Dogs to improved results in each of the last four seasons. In the 2020-21 season, Terry was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) Men's Golf Coach of the Year. LA Tech finished in the top-10 in seven tournaments, including three HEAD COACH top-five finishes: LaTour Intercollegiate (1st, -12), Jim Rivers @CoachMattTerry Intercollegiate (4th, -4) and Linger Longer Invitational (4th, -4). Louisiana Tech finished the LaTour Intercollegiate 18 strokes ahead of second place Jacksonville State as LA Tech registered a combined -12 (288-276=564). Tech's -12 (276) second round performance tied for the lowest team round score in program history. Terry coached senior Mac Murphy to earn Third Team all-Conference USA honors. M. Murphy was named first team all-Louisiana while his twin brother, Sam, was named to the second team. In the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season, Terry coached M. Murphy to All-Louisiana First Team and LSWA Newcomer of the Year honors. The Bulldogs placed in the top-10 at 5 of their 6 tournaments during the season and routinely outpaced higher-ranked teams. In 2018-19, the Bulldogs picked up five top-ten finishes, including a victory at the Jerry Weeks Match Play tournament. Terry went across the pond to recruit James Swash (Stockton on Tees, England), and was rewarded when Swash earned Conference USA Freshman of the Year honors after the season. After spending 15 years building highly successful men's and women's golf programs at Troy University, Terry began the same process at Louisiana Tech after joining the Bulldog program on July 22, 2017. Terry spent 15 seasons at the helm of the Troy men's golf team, the final four as the Director of Golf. Under his leadership and vision, Troy golf reached its pinnacle in 2015 as both the men's and women's teams competed in the NCAA Regionals. That started a three year stretch for the Troy men's program where the Trojans competed in the NCAA Regionals in 2015, 2016 and 2017 while the Troy women advanced to the NCAA Regionals in three of the last four years (2014, 2015 and 2017). During the first 11 years of his Troy career, Terry had the responsibility of coaching both the men's and women's teams. He passed the torch on the women's side to his protégée Bart Barnes two years ago and the foundation Terry had built led to back-to-back Sun Belt Conference championships and a pair of berths in the NCAA Regionals; the first in Troy's Division I history on the women's side. Terry saw his hard work pay off as the Troy men's team won the 2016 Sun Belt Conference Championship -- its first ever as a member of the league -- while earning its second straight NCAA Regional bid. The Trojans played in the Franklin Regional as the Sun Belt's automatic selection. The Trojans made their first appearance in an NCAA Regional under Terry after earning an at-large bid to the New Haven Regional in 2015. The 2017 season saw the program earn its third straight berth into the NCAA Regionals as the Trojans were tabbed as an at-large selection into the NCAA College Grove Regional at The Grove. The Trojans finished in the sixth place, just one spot from qualifying as a team for the NCAA Championships. In addition to the team accomplishments, Troy has sent two individuals to the NCAA Championships as Tolver Dozier (2015) and Cam Norman (2017) both played their way through the Regionals to advance to the highest stage. Troy has placed nine golfers on the All-Sun Belt Conference team over the past three seasons while as a team the Trojans set the school record for the lowest 18, 36 and 54 hole scores as well as the lowest individual round. Four of Terry's former players are currently playing the pro circuit -- Zach Portemont (Sunshine Tour), Tolver Dozier (PGA Latin American), Jake Tucker (PGA Latin America) and Sofia Björkman (Nordea Tour). One consistent throughout Terry's career has been his commitment to academics. Dozier earned the NCAA Elite 89 Award for men's golf in 2015, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at each of the NCAA's 89 Championships. The men's team has won six straight Troy Athletics Academic Team Awards (highest team GPA) and two of the last four Sun Belt Academic Awards. Additionally, four of Terry's golfers have earned Troy's Clements Award, which is presented annually to the top male studentathlete in the department. Troy golfers under Terry have also had success on the amateur circuit as a Trojan golfer has competed in the U.S. Amateur each of the past four years. Dozier played in the 2012 and 2014 event, while Jake Tucker qualified in 2013 and Bettcher in 2015. Prior to coming to Troy in the fall of 2002, Terry served as the head coach at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Ala. During his three seasons there, he led the Buccaneers to the national tournament three times, finishing in third place twice before winning the championship in 2002. A native of Moulton, Ala., Terry has been an avid golfer since dropping baseball to concentrate on the sport in high school. He served as director of the Tuscaloosa Junior Golf Tour, supervising up to 175 children ages 8 to 18. Terry also has experience as a teacher, serving as the assistant pro at the Turtle Creek Golf Club in Rockledge, Fla. Terry has professional experience playing on the Hooters, Central Florida/Tommy Armour and North Florida PGA Winter tours. He also participated in the 1988 PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament, better known as q-school. Born in Augusta, Ga., Terry received his bachelor's degree in marketing from Alabama in 1996. He is married to the former Dixie McCreless and the couple has three children, Mya, Alyssa and Sawyer.

DR. LES
GUICE UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT @LKGuice Louisiana Tech University and President Les Guice share a rich history together that spans five decades and has produced family ties deeply rooted in a passion for the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters. From an architecture student stepping on the campus for the first time in 1972 to an appointment as Louisiana Tech’s 14th President in 2013, Dr. Guice has shown an unwavering commitment to leadership and service to his alma mater. Most recently, Guice’s leadership in promoting a spirit of teamwork has helped the campus community and the City of Ruston work together to overcome the enormous challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic that came on the heels of the tornado that plowed through the campus and community in April 2019. Yet unparalleled educational experiences and unparalleled campus growth have continued, including in the following areas: • The Integrated Engineering and Science Building (IESB) opened in Fall 2020; • The brand new Origin Bank Baseball Complex that houses J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park, and the Origin Bank Softball and Soccer Complex, home to both Dr. Billy Bundrick Field (softball) and Robert Mack Caruthers Field (soccer) opened to rave reviews this year; • Green space, new intramural fields, and student housing along Tech Drive south of the railroad tracks neared completion as the Fall 2021 quarter began; • Plans are underway to build a much-needed Tech Pointe II; • Addition of new and/or improved parking lots north of the railroad tracks and west of Tech Drive, north of the railroad tracks and south of West Alabama Avenue, around the Business Building and the new dorms south of West California Avenue, and on the site of the old Business Building; • A renovation of the historical campus quadrangle and enhanced campus entrances; • Opening of the Hinckley Virtual Anatomy Lab; • And the ongoing demolition of old dorms along Tech Drive to make room for new housing are just some of the improvements.
nanotechnology. With the hiring of key nanotechnology faculty in numerous disciplines, further expansion of research laboratories, establishment of an interdisciplinary engineering PhD program with a nanotechnology track, and initiation of a BS in Nanosystems Engineering, the IfM and COES established strong research and education nanotechnology programs that have received national recognition. In 2004, Dr. Guice’s performance and accomplishments as dean led to his appointment as Tech’s vice president for research and development. During his tenure as vice president and, beginning in 2012, as executive vice president, Tech has significantly increased patents, licenses/options, startup companies, SBIR grants with affiliated companies, and has established strong industry partnerships for commercialization of technologies. Dr. Guice also led the establishment of Tech’s first two technology incubators, the Rawle and Humana Enterprise Centers. With a focus on the future and a progressive vision for economic development, Dr. Guice has led the planning and development of the Louisiana Tech Enterprise Campus – a research park connecting the university and downtown Ruston. Enterprise Campus’ first building, Tech Pointe, was completed in 2012 and is now home for several companies and organizations, including an Air Force-funded Cyberspace Research Laboratory. With the completion of Tech’s new College of Business building and renovation to University Hall as a home for interdisciplinary entrepreneurship and innovation activities, the first phase of Enterprise Campus was completed. Dr. Guice’s reputation for exemplary leadership and service is further evidenced by the many statewide and Conference-USA-wide organizations he has founded or chaired, and he’s been honored with numerous awards, both locally and statewide. He recently completed a two-year appointment as Chair of the C-USA Board of Directors. As Tech’s president, Dr. Guice is the chief executive officer of north Louisiana’s only Carnegie Foundation national research university and one of only two public universities from Louisiana recognized in the top tier of national universities in the U.S. News and World Report. Dr. Guice leads a University that consistently receives high marks in affordability, in starting salaries for graduates, and in providing graduates with the best returns on investment. Throughout his career, Dr. Guice has contributed to and played a central role in creating the culture and vision for the future of Louisiana Tech; he continues that commitment as president. Dr. Guice’s focus on campuswide engagement, building and growing relationships, and leadership in forging a path toward advancement of the University’s academic and athletic programs, research and commercialization activities, and economic development efforts means that Louisiana Tech University’s best days are yet to come. Dr. Guice is a native of Monroe and grew up in Bastrop. He and his wife, Kathy, have three sons – Kyle, Chad, and Bret – and four grandchildren, Christopher, twins Everly and Elizabeth, and the youngest, Evie.
One of Dr. Guice’s first achievements at Tech was earning a bachelor of arts in architecture in 1976. Discovering a passion for engineering under the mentorship of Professor Jack Painter, Dr. Guice went on to earn a master’s degree in civil engineering from Tech in 1978. While working on his master’s degree at Louisiana Tech, Dr. Guice also discovered a passion for teaching and education as a profession. Dr. Guice accepted a position as an assistant professor of civil engineering at Louisiana Tech in 1978 and was promoted to associate professor in 1981. A few short years after earning his PhD in civil engineering from Texas A&M University in 1986, Dr. Guice was named the interim department head of civil engineering in Louisiana Tech’s College of Engineering in 1988 and earned the permanent department head position and full professorship in 1989. As department head, Dr. Guice initiated the formation of the Civil Engineering Advisory Board and the Civil Engineering Distinguished Alumni recognition program, both of which significantly enhanced alumni participation and significantly enhanced fundraising for the department. Throughout the next decade, Dr. Guice would continue to distinguish himself as an academician, researcher, administrator, and leader. His dedication to his students, his faculty, and the University would lead to his appointment as Dean of Louisiana Tech’s College of Engineering and Science (COES) in 1999. As Dean, Dr. Guice continued to encourage and support innovations in the curricula. The College’s faculty became increasingly successful in securing external funding for the integrated curriculum which resulted in a transformative redesign of programs throughout the College. Dr. Guice’s leadership and vision also reinvigorated the Engineering and Science Foundation to more effectively serve the needs of the College. He initiated a new integrated strategic plan, known as “COES 2010,” and capital campaign, “Tech’s BEST,” which led to major advancement of the college and to funding for an Eminent Scholar Chair, 15 Professorships, $500k Scholarship Fund, and several new laboratories and facilities. Dr. Guice’s leadership also helped to guide the Institute for Micromanufacturing (IfM) toward a focus on the emerging field of

DR. ERIC A.
WOOD DIRECTOR of ATHLETICS/VICE PRESIDENT @EWOOD_AD Culture. Class. Competitive Excellence. Those are the pillars that Dr. Eric A. Wood has embraced and vocalized since stepping on the Louisiana Tech University campus last October. Wood was introduced as Vice President and Director of Athletics by University President Les Guice during a press conference held in the Chris Richardson Suite of the Joe Aillet Stadium Press Box on Oct. 23, 2020. The energy, enthusiasm and electric personality of the 22-year veteran of collegiate athletic administration instantly hit home with the Tech studentathletes, coaches, support staff and fan base. Wood, who came to Ruston following a five-year stint at UCF where he spent the past four years as the Deputy AD for Competitive Excellence, is the first African-American Vice President and the first minority Director of Athletics in the University’s history. He also becomes the first Director of Athletics in LA Tech history to also serve as a Vice President. “Eric’s record of accomplishment shows his qualifications, and interacting with him quickly convinces you he is something really special,” said Guice. “He is a dynamic, charismatic individual who leads with intelligence and character. It’s a rare combination, and we’re very fortunate to have him on our team.” During the first nine months in his new role, Wood has quickly made a name for himself within the LA Tech Family as well as Conference USA, as illustrated by his appointment as Chair of the Football Success Committee and the league representative to the NCAA Division I Football Oversight Committee. Despite earning his first ever AD opportunity during one of the most trying times in collegiate athletic history, Wood’s leadership helped Louisiana Tech gain momentum – both on and off the playing fields. And no surprise. It’s all a part of Wood’s #CompeteCompeteCompete mantra. The 2020-21 academic year saw a number of impressive team accomplishments, including the seventh straight bowl appearance by Bulldog Football, the West Division championship and a run to the NIT Final Four by Bulldog Basketball, the first ever appearance in the National Collegiate Women’s Bowling Championship by the Lady Techsters, and a Top 25 ranking, West Division title and first ever host of an NCAA Regional by Bulldog Baseball. Those team accomplishments helped Louisiana Tech finish fifth among Conference USA schools in the Learfield Directors Cup and 16th nationally among universities sponsoring 16 sports. Tech’s student-athletes also competed in the classroom. The past year saw 199 student-athletes named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll, the highest percentage ever. Another 54 were awarded the C-USA Academic Medal, the second most ever. Other impressive academic accomplishments included six Conference USA All-Academic Team honorees, nine CoSIDA Academic AllDistrict honorees (the most in University history and the second most by a league school this year), and three CoSIDA Academic All-Americans (also a University single year record). On the fundraising front, the University saw a 60 percent growth in total gifts from the previous year ($5.1M to $8.1M) and a 23 percent growth in total donors. The Louisiana Tech Athletic Club (LTAC) saw a 19 percent growth in total donors, including a 100 percent participation by full-time athletic department employees (the first time ever on record). Tech also saw three seven-figure commitment made by individual donors on capital projects that support the Bulldog and Lady Techster student-athletes. The University also opened brand new facilities in JC Love Field at Pat Patterson Park, Dr. Billy Bundrick Softball Field, Robert Mack Caruthers Soccer Field, Origin Bank Soccer and Softball Complex, and additional support facilities. The athletics department also saw some international publicity with Conference USA Freshman of the Year Kenneth Lofton, Jr. leading Team USA to the gold medal at the 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup in Latvia. All of these momentum-building moments in 2020-21 led to impressive social media growth within the department, including a 22 percent increase in followers across all social media platforms. The official athletics website LATechSports.com saw 2.65 million pageviews, an increase in excess of 25 percent from the previous year, and also saw over 650,000 users, a 35
percent growth over the previous 12 months. All of these accomplishments were just signs of culture, class and competitive excellence. The Bronx, New York, native has served in a variety of roles within athletics administration for more than two decades. In addition to his time at UCF, Wood has held full-time positions at the University of Arkansas, the Atlantic Coast Conference, Wake Forest University and the University of New Haven. He also served as a postgraduate intern at the NCAA national office and a graduate assistant at Clemson University early in his career. At every level of his professional career, Wood has made an impact. His qualifications and accomplishments include: • Sacred Heart University Board of Trustees • 2020-21 University of Arkansas Outstanding Alumni of the Year-College of Health, Human Performance & Recreation • 2019 “Next Up” honoree presented by Adidas and College AD for senior level administrators • Athletics Representative on the UCF Presidents Advisory Staff Council • 2016 Top 40 Under 40 in the Arkansas Business Journal • 2009 graduate of the NCAA’s Leadership Institute • 11 years of executive staff level leadership • $55 million in successful management experience for sport programs, operations and support areas • $5 million in fundraising visits, proposals, and presentations for programing, operations and facilities • Head coach hires in football, men’s basketball, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, and track and field • Sport administrator experience (football, men’s basketball, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s golf) • NCAA, NLI, Division I-A Athletics Director’s Association (Now Lead1), USTA committee service • 1994-1998 NCAA football student-athlete • 1998 Medal of Merit recipient as student-athlete of the Year During his tenure at UCF, Wood played a prominent role in the strategic planning process and day-to-day administration of the University’s 16-sport intercollegiate athletics program, assisting with key initiatives that impact overall competitive excellence in the classroom and on the respective playing fields as a member of his executive leadership team. He represented the department on the President’s Advisory Staff Council and served as sport administrator for the football and men’s basketball programs. Wood had administrative oversight of the Varsity Knights alumni letter-winners organization, UCF Convocation Corporation management and revenue generation, Knights Sports Performance, the sport administrators group, the sports science and sports nutrition

departments, compliance, academics and all internal units impacting the competitive success of UCF’s 450 student-athletes. “President Guice and Louisiana Tech University made an absolute home run hire,” said UCF Director of Athletics Danny White. “UCF’s loss is LA Tech’s gain. Eric Wood has had an enormous impact on our athletics program. Simply put, seemingly everything he touches turns to gold! I am grateful for Eric’s many contributions that have led to an unprecedented amount of competitive and academic success at UCF. “His interpersonal skills are second-to-none, and combined with his competitive drive, his work with our coaches and student-athletes allowed us to break a whole lot of records around here. I couldn’t be happier for Eric, Celia, and their beautiful family, and I look forward to following their continued success in this new adventure.” Wood also assisted with the hiring of UCF football coach Josh Heupel and men’s basketball coach Johnny Dawkins. The Knights football program has won 22 games over the past two seasons, including an undefeated regular season in 2018. The Knights men’s basketball program earned a trip to the 2019 NCAA Tournament, the program’s first since 2005. “Dr. Eric Wood is everything a school could want in an athletic director,” said Dawkins. “His greatest strength lies in his ability to connect with others. He is great with student athletes, administrators, and coaches. He will be greatly missed, but I can’t wait to see what he will accomplish at Louisiana Tech.” During his time in Fayetteville, Wood served as the Associate Athletics

Director, Deputy Title IX Coordinator/Diversity Coordinator (2011-16) as well as the Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development (200911). Wood was the Director of Student-Athlete Programs and Compliance at the ACC (2005-09) following a stint as the Assistant Director for Compliance at Wake Forest (2004-05). He began his full-time collegiate athletic administration career as the Assistant AD for Compliance and Student Development at the University of New Haven (2003-04). He is a 1998 graduate of Sacred Heart University, earning his degree in Psychology. He was a three-year starter at cornerback for the Pioneer football team with one outdoor season as a member of the track and field team. Wood earned a Medal of Merit, the athletic department’s highest honor, as the Student-Athlete of the Year his senior year at Sacred Heart. He completed his master’s degree in counseling and guidance services at Clemson University in May 2000 and his Doctorate of Education in Sports Management at the University of Arkansas in 2016. “I love the bold mission and vision of the University to be the top public research institution in the country,” said Wood. “My vision for athletics is the same – competitive excellence. We will compete in the classroom. We will compete to develop more leaders. And we will compete to win more championships.” Dr. Wood and his wife Celia have four children – Eliana, Nia, Alyssa and Elijah.
