LOUISIANA TECH BULLDOGs (4-1)
• Louisiana Tech is back inside the Thomas Assembly Center on Karl Malone Court as they play host to Dillard at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs are going for their fifth consecutive win. • LA Tech ended up sweeping its multi-team event, defeating Southern Utah, 67-53, as well as McNeese State, 71-62. Despite the Bulldogs top two scorers putting up a combined seven points versus the Cowboys, they got double-digit efforts from four players. After McNeese cut its deficit down to two points with 3:44 to go, the Bulldogs closed out the game on a 9-1 run to record its 13th consecutive home win over the Cowboys. • Daniel Batcho led the charge with a game-high 17 points while Tahlik Chavez (season-high 14), Tyler Henry (season-high 14), and Sean Newman Jr. (11) chipped in of-fensively. Henry and Chavez combined for seven of the team’s 10 made threepointers (second time this season with 10+ threes). LA Tech also did damage from the foul line, making a season-high 23 free throws on 29 attempts. • Daniel Batcho enjoyed a very successful MTE. In the wins over Southern Utah and McNeese State, the forward averaged 13.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game. • Sean Newman Jr. played a game-high 38 minutes versus the Cowboys, registering 11 points, season-high five rebounds, and season-tying seven assists. The point guard now has 27 total assists on the season, which ranks 54th most in the country and is the most by a Bulldog through the first five games of a season since Alex Hamilton in 2015-16. • Defense has been a huge factor in LA Tech’s early success this season. They currently rank 20th in the country and No. 1 in Conference USA in scoring defense at 60.4 points allowed. The Bulldogs also rank first in CUSA and 66th in the nation in field goal percentage defense at 39.0. • For a fourth consecutive game, the LA Tech defense limited its opponent to less than 30 percent shooting from beyond the arc (first time since 2021). The Bulldogs currently rank 57th in the country in three-point percentage defense, allowing teams to shoot just 27.5 percent (lowest through first five games at LA Tech since 2015-16 season). • Dillard will be the second opponent this season that LA Tech faces for the very first time. The Bulldogs previously defeated Lyon College, 100-43, in their first ever meeting.
A LA TECH WIN...
• Would improve the Bulldogs record to 5-1. LA Tech has won at least five of its first six games in eight of the last 14 seasons. • Would give the Bulldogs a 1-0 series advantage versus Dillard. In LA Tech’s 96-year history, they have defeated 229 different opponents. Earlier this season, they defeated Lyon College in their first ever meeting. • Would give the Bulldogs their fifth straight victory. LA Tech has had at least a fivegame winning streak in every season dating back to 2009.
