LOUISIANA TECH BULLDOGs (5-1)
• Louisiana Tech takes its five-game winning streak on the road to face New Mexico on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. CT inside the Pit. This will be the first of two trips for the Bulldogs to the Land of Enchantment as they also play at New Mexico State later this season. • LA Tech rolled to its fifth consecutive win this past Saturday, scoring 62 first-half points in route to a 105-65 pounding of Dillard. The Bulldogs set season highs with 39 made field goals, 12 of those coming from beyond the arc. They also pulled down a season-high 45 rebounds and generated a season-tying 15 steals. • Daniel Batcho played only 13 minutes, but stacked up 17 points and a career-high 14 rebounds as the forward notched his second double-double of the season in the win over Dillard. The Bulldogs are a perfect 4-0 with Batcho in the lineup since he got his waiver cleared for immediate eligibility. He is averaging 14.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game. • The Bulldog bench ended up scoring 67 points, the most since scoring 68 on Feb. 20, 2013 against Central Baptist. The bench is averaging 34.17 points per game this season, which ranks first in CUSA and 18th in the country. Devin Ree was a big reason for the scoring output from the bench against Dillard, posting a career-high 21 points, becoming the third Bulldog this season with a 20+ scoring performance. Other bench highlights included Jaylin Henderson tallying his team-leading fifth double-digit scoring game with 12 points and Jordan Turner who tied his career-high with 10 points. • Tahlik Chavez is starting to find his groove from the outside, going 6-of-12 on three-pointers over the last two games including a perfect 3-of-3 against Dillard. He now has 299 made threes for his collegiate career. • Defense has been a big factor for LA Tech during its five-game winning streak. During this span, opponents are only averaging 57.2 points per game while shooting just 36.2 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from beyond the arc. • LA Tech has previously faced 10 of the 11 Mountain West Conference teams, including Colorado State who the Bulldogs lost to in the season opener, 81-73, in Fort Collins, Colorado (the Rams are currently ranked in the top 25). The ‘Dogs will be playing in the state of New Mexico for the first time since 2013.
A LA TECH WIN... • Would give the Bulldogs their first win in the state of New Mexico. LA Tech is 0-12 alltime when playing in the Land of Enchantment (0-2 at New Mexico, 0-10 at New Mexico State, and a loss to San Jose State in the 2008 WAC Tournament in Las Cruces. • Would give the Bulldogs their sixth straight win, a streak last done during the 2021-22 season. They reeled off seven straight from Dec. 22, 2021 to Jan. 16, 2022. • Would give the Bulldogs back-to-back road wins for the first time since defeating Alabama A&M and Samford on Nov. 23 and 25, 2022.
