TITANIUM A high-tech material used in industries where weight and strength is important such as aerospace and automobile racing. Titanium is as strong as some steels, but 45 % lighter and non-allergenic for those with sensitive skin.

STAINLESS STEEL Luminox uses high grade 316L stainless steel which has superior strength. 316L steel is also more scratch resistant and will not oxidize, rust or change color.

PC CARBON We use a special carbon compound material mixed with polycarbonate prior to injection molding that results in a very stiff and hard finished watch case. Professionals around the world choose it because of its perfect combination of light weight (comfort), strength and durability. For undercover missions the matte finish material is also an important benefit.

CRYSTAL Our crystals are specially hardened, scratch resistant mineral glass, (550 to 650 Vickers) approximately 20 % harder than conventional mineral glass crystals. Our sapphire crystals are ultra-scratch resistant with anti-reflective coatings for superior readability at all times.

SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL Sapphire Crystal the anti-reflective sapphire crystals on our Deep Dive models are almost 5mm thick in order to withstand the enormous pressure of 62.5 bar, which is 25% higher than the indication of 50 bar on the dial – the ISO 6425 requirement for dive watch certification. 1

Luminox LIGHT TECHNOLOGY (LLT) Tritium tubes on the dial, hands and bezel enable full night visibility. The Tritium tubes on the minute hand, bezel and 12H emit a blue glow which is the last color on the spectrum that can be seen deep underwater. Visibility of the minute hand and bezel is critically important for the timing of dives and calculation of remaining air supply.

HELIUM VALVE In closed environment deep dives, such as diving bells, dive vessels, etc., a helium mix of air is used for breathing. Helium is much thinner than air and can enter into the watch. The helium valve allows the release of helium when re-surfacing as the pressure increases.

STRAP Certification requires a solid connection of the strap to the watch case, which is why the Deep Dive straps are fixed to the case with screw pins.

CASE BACK The 5 mm 316L stainless steel case back protects the watch movement under ultra high pressure of up to 62.5 bar (equivalent to 625 meter depth under water).
WATER RESISTANT 50 BAR (500M/1500FEET) The Deep Dive series passed the very strict ISO 6425 Certification which requires various water pressure tests up to 62.5 bar (equivalent to 625 m depth) – 25 % higher than indicated on the watch.

GMT The first people to require GMT watches were professional and amateur pilots. GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) is the standard time zone in aviation – all charts and records use GMT to avoid confusion. This true GMT timepiece features a secondary hour hand that can be set to a second time zone (or to GMT) while the primary hour hand is set to local time.

CASE MATERIAL The SXC Space Series timepieces are available in 316L stainless steel or 30 % carbon reinforced polycarbonate case, which is both ultra-lightweight and rugged.

CROWN The extra-large crown on these timepieces was designed with the input of test pilots. The large size crown helps facilitate changing the time when wearing thick gloves.

SCOTT CASSELL Scott Cassell is an expert counter-terrorism operative and a consummate undersea explorer, who embraces danger and relies on Luminox timepieces as part of his Essential Gear. For 15 years, Cassell was a principal investigator in field studies of Humboldt squid. His filmmaking and production credits include more than 35 television shows and documentaries broadcast on the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, MTV, Disney, Animal Planet, Spike TV, the BBC, and more. He has also led an expedition for National Geographic where he doubled as primary researcher. He also heads up two organizations – Sea Wolves and Underwater Voyager Project (UVP). Using SpecOps techniques, Sea Wolves identifies and films criminal acts, such as the killing or maiming of endangered aquatic species, and turns the evidence over to law enforcement to pursue prosecution. UVP is a non-profit organization that explores the health of the oceans and why they are failing. Cassell’s main mission today is to raise awareness of the deteriorating condition of our oceans, mainly due to massive killing of the shark population. More than 200,000 sharks are killed every day for shark fin soup. “With the extermination of the sharks, the ecosystem in our ocean is in danger.” says Cassell. “The oceans need warriors, not more words!” Luminox’s continuing partnership with Cassell supports these vital missions. Working together, we have created special edition watches, including the Colormark diving set and the Deep Dive series. Proceeds from the sales of these dive watches help support the work of Cassell’s Sea Wolves Unlimited and his Undersea Voyager Project.

P-38 LIGHTNING First conceived in 1937, the twin-boomed P-38 was the most innovative plane of its day and the ultimate weapon, combining speed with unheard-of advances: two supercharged engines and a potent mix of four 50-caliber machine guns and a 20mm cannon. Upon its official introduction in 1940, the P-38 was capable of climbing to 3,300 feet in a single minute and reaching 400 mph, 100 mph faster than any other fighter in the world. It also doubled as an intimidating long-range threat, capable of carrying a larger payload than early B-17s and boasting a range of 1,150 miles. With its distinctive design, the P-38 was sleek and its twin tails gave it a radical new look. Nicknamed the "fork-tailed devil" by the Luftwaffe and "two planes, one pilot" by the Japanese, its versatility and ruggedness during WWII were legendary. It could sink a ship, strafe enemies on the ground, cripple tanks, and shoot down fighters and bombers.

F-117 NIGHTHAWK The F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter, developed in total secrecy, was the first operational platform to employ what is known today as “stealth.” Its startling, unconventional shape clearly signified the arrival of a new era in fighter performance through low-observable technology. Operation Desert Storm first saw the potential of an aircraft that could penetrate dense threat environments at night. Comprising 2 to 3 percent of coalition forces, the F-117 accounted for 30 to 35 percent of first-night targets and hit rates of 75 percent in Desert Storm to over 90 percent in Operation Allied Force. The F-117 also sustained the highest mission-capability rates of any deployed fighter or bomber in both conflicts, exceeding 82 percent. While the USAF retired the F-117 on 22 April 2008 it continues to symbolize the innovative thinking of Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works®

TONY KANAAN SERIES Luminox and Indy 500 Champion, Tony Kanaan continue their partnership in 2015. “Working with Luminox over these years on my watch has been truly amazing and for a watch guy like me, it's a dream come true,” says Tony Kanaan. For 2015 we're bringing you the new Ultra-Light PC Carbon Chronograph 1100 Series, which in my opinion will be a huge hit.” About Tony Kanaan Tony Kanaan started racing go-karts in his native Brazil at the age of 8, later making his way to Europe and then to the US where he established his racing career. In 2004 Tony claimed the Indy Car title, completing every single of the 3,305 laps of that season, making him the first IndyCar Series driver to achieve such a feat. In his third season with KV Racing Technology, Kanaan won the most important title of his career, the 2013 Indianapolis 500, and broke the IZOD IndyCar Series record for consecutive starts with 212. Kanaan is a workout buff and an amateur triathlete. He often competes in Half-Ironman races and in 2011 he trained during his regular IndyCar season and, in between races, competed in the Ford Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.
