Luminox Light Technology (LLT) All Luminox watches feature a self-powered illumination system employing tiny micro gas light sources. This unique Swiss technology guarantees unsurpassed ability to read the time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for up to 25 years. Each watch has micro gas lights mounted on the hands, dial, and, when necessary, also on the bezel. This unique technology does not depend on an external light source to “charge“ fluorescent paint on the dial or hands in order to glow, nor do Luminox watches require the push of a button to light up as do watches with electroluminescence.

TITANIUM A high-tech material used in industries where weight and strength is important such as aerospace and automobile racing. Titanium is as strong as some steels, but 45 % lighter and non-allergenic for those with sensitive skin.

CRYSTAL Our crystals are specially hardened, scratch resistant mineral glass, (550 to 650 Vickers) approximately 20 % harder than conventional mineral glass crystals. Our sapphire crystals are ultra-scratch resistant with anti-reflective coatings for superior readability at all times.

ULTA-LIGHT PC CARBON REINFORCED We use a special carbon compound material mixed with polycarbonate prior to injection molding that results in a very stiff and hard finished watch case. Professionals around the world choose it because of its perfect combination of light weight (comfort), strength and durability. For undercover missions the matte finish material is also an important benefit.

STAINLESS STEEL Luminox uses high grade 316L stainless steel which has superior strength. 316L steel is also more scratch resistant and will not oxidize, rust or change color.

AUTOMATICS More and more people are discovering the magic of mechanical movements – automatic movements actually interact with you, as the movement of your wrist keeps them wound – with no battery to change! Automatic movement is a mechanical movement with a self-winding design which harnesses the energy produced by wearer’s motion to wind the spring. The watch maintains its power reserve if you wear it every day otherwise it is advisable to store it on a watch winder to keep it at full power. In a move that answers the demands of the marketplace, Luminox has increased its use of automatic movements throughout its range.

Our patented bezel locking system performs a double function: it protects the crown against impact and shocks; and, when locked, the unidirectional ratcheting bezel cannot be turned inadvertently.

HELIUM VALVE In closed environment deep dives, such as diving bells, dive vessels, etc., a helium mix of air is used for breathing. Helium is much thinner than air and can enter into the watch. The helium valve allows the release of helium when re-surfacing as the pressure increases.
Luminox uses high grade 316L stainless steel which has superior strength. 316L steel is also more scratch resistant and will not oxidize, rust or change color.

WATER RESISTANT 50 BAR (500M/1500FEET) The Deep Dive series passed the very strict ISO 6425 Certification which requires various water pressure tests up to 62.5 bar (equivalent to 625 m depth) – 25 % higher than indicated on the watch.

The anti-reflective sapphire crystals on our Deep Dive models are almost 5mm thick in order to withstand the enormous pressure of 62.5 bar, which is 25% higher than the indication of 50 bar on the dial – the ISO 6425 requirement for dive watch certification.

CROWN The extra-large crown on these timepieces was designed with the input of test pilots. The large size crown helps facilitate changing the time when wearing thick gloves.

GMT The first people to require GMT watches were professional and amateur pilots. GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) is the standard time zone in aviation – all charts and records use GMT to avoid confusion. This true GMT timepiece features a secondary hour hand that can be set to a second time zone (or to GMT) while the primary hour hand is set to local time.

For over 20 years, Luminox has partnered with the world’s toughest maritime commandos to continuously hone and refine a watch tough enough and useful enough to be considered “first line gear” for the finest warriors. Today, we’ve taken the lessons of the past and the refinement capable in the present to develop our toughest and most specifically designed essential piece of timekeeping gear to date, the ANU (Authorized for Navy Use) watch series. In World War II, during the era of Frogmen and beach landings under fire, if a piece of diving gear wasn’t on the ANU list, you didn’t use it. In the early 1960s these Frogmen evolved into the most elite maritime commandos – the U.S. Navy SEALs. The ANU list of equipment provided these Frogmen of the past and the Navy SEALs of today with a sense of security that their gear would work when needed. It is with this same intent that we name these newly developed watches, the ANU series.

Luminox and the Navy Seals -
Luminox started its relationship with the U.S. Navy SEAL Teams over 20 years ago when SEALs first discovered the unique self-powered illumination technology found in Luminox watches, and requested a watch series be made for them. Since that first meeting Luminox has continuously updated its line of watches to meet the demanding requirements of this community of warriors as well as the needs of other elite forces around the world. The Navy SEAL Colormark series is the evolution of that original series of timepieces. In 2013 Luminox had the opportunity to refine one of its watches to specifically address the needs of maritime commandos with the direct collaboration of SEALs, both active duty and retired. This partnership resulted in the A.N.U. (Authorized for Navy Use) series featuring a stainless steel case, with screw crown and case back, sapphire crystal, multi-jewel Swiss quartz movement and 10 year lithium battery. Luminox is partnering with retired Navy SEALs to offer the Special Operations Challenge – the chance for civilians to train like a SEAL for a day. Scott Cassell is an expert counter-terrorism operative and a consummate undersea explorer, who embraces danger and relies on Luminox timepieces as part of his Essential Gear. For 15 years, Cassell was a principal investigator in field studies of Humboldt squid. His filmmaking and production credits include more than 35 television shows and documentaries broadcast on the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, MTV, Disney, Animal Planet, Spike TV, the BBC, and more. He has also led an expedition for National Geographic where he doubled as primary researcher. He also heads up two organizations – Sea Wolves and Underwater Voyager Project (UVP). Using SpecOps techniques, Sea Wolves identifies and films criminal acts, such as the killing or maiming of endangered aquatic species, and turns the evidence over to law enforcement to pursue prosecution. UVP is a non-profit organization that explores the health of the oceans and why they are failing. Cassell’s main mission today is to raise awareness of the deteriorating condition of our oceans, mainly due to massive killing of the shark population. More than 200,000 sharks are killed every day for shark fin soup. “With the extermination of the sharks, the ecosystem in our ocean is in danger.” says Cassell. “The oceans need warriors, not more words!” Luminox’s continuing partnership with Cassell supports these vital missions. Working together, we have created special edition watches, including the Colormark diving set and the Deep Dive series. P-38 LIGHTNING -
First conceived in 1937, the twin-boomed P-38 was the most innovative plane of its day and the ultimate weapon, combining speed with unheard-of advances: two supercharged engines and a potent mix of four 50-caliber machine guns and a 20mm cannon. Upon its official introduction in 1940, the P-38 was capable of climbing to 3,300 feet in a single minute and reaching 400 mph, 100 mph faster than any other fighter in the world. It also doubled as an intimidating long-range threat, capable of carrying a larger payload than early B-17s and boasting a range of 1,150 miles.
With its distinctive design, the P-38 was sleek and its twin tails gave it a radical new look. Nicknamed the "fork-tailed devil" by the Luftwaffe and "two planes, one pilot" by the Japanese, its versatility and ruggedness during WWII were legendary. It could sink a ship, strafe enemies on the ground, cripple tanks, and shoot down fighters and bombers.

RECON NAV SPC 8830 SERIES The RECON NAV SPC (Navigation Specialist) is part of the successful RECON series. The Navigation Specialist is the person responsible for keeping the patrol on the designated route until the target is reached, keeping on track with the use of a map, a compass, and GPS. The new NAV SPC models have a 46mm case. The dial incorporates an easy to read walking speed tachymeter, either in kilometre or miles per hour. The models employ a movement with a GMT function enabling the wearer to set a second time zone. In order to facilitate navigation with a map, the watch strap features three common map scales as well as an inch/cm measurement and comparison chart. It also holds a removable compass.
