In the late 60s, the Mexican government encouraged mass tourism to earn foreign currency; since it grew much faster than exports, thus the idea for Cancún was born, whose founding dates back to 1970. A finales de los 60’s el gobierno mexicano impulsó el turismo para captar divisas, así surgió el proyecto Cancún, cuya fundación data desde 1970. Cancún began formal operations in 1974 Cancún inició operaciones formales en 1974. In 1973, the Cancún International Airport was opened, and some airlines were operating regularly. En 1973 el Aeropuerto Internacional de Cancún fue inaugurado, y operaban regularmente algunas compañías aéreas. The first hotel to be built was Playa Blanca, at Km 3.5 on Boulevard Kukulcán, by Engineer Diego de la Peña. It began operating in 1974 with 42 luxury rooms. El primer hotel que se construyó fue Playa Blanca, en el Km 3.5 del Bulevar Kukulcán, del ingeniero Diego de la Peña. Comenzó operaciones en 1974 con 42 cuartos de lujo.

Maya Museum. Opened in the last stage of Hotel Zone. It has the largest collection of pieces from the legendary civilization settled in Quintana Roo.

Playa Norte. White sand beach that invites you to swim or practice water sports. Preferred site of yachtsmen, who come to anchor their boats to enjoy an attractive range of beach clubs and dreamy sunsets.

Garrafón Park. Isla Mujeres natural park with a majestic coral reef where you can go diving and snorkeling, and enjoy many other activities such as kayaking. This paradise has zip lines, a restaurant, a pool and other amenities.

Goddess Ixchel. At the highest point of the Yucatán Peninsula, where the Mayan gods guard the Caribbean Sea (in Punta Sur at isla Mujeres), are the remains of the Mayan Temple dedicated to Ixchel, the goddess of fertility.

Hacienda Mundaca. Built by Fermin Mundaca (pirate and slave trader), Hacienda Mundaca involves a love story between this buccaneer and a native nicknamed The Trigueña. It is considered one of the main historical sites of the island.

La Cruz de la Bahía. This cross was placed in commemoration of the founding of Isla Mujeres (August 17, 1857). It measures 3 meters high and is at a depth of 12 meters. It is made of bronze and is located at Manchones reef. Divers and fishermen descend to pray.

Arrecife El Farito. Uno de los arrecifes que forman parte del Parque Marino de Isla Mujeres que no puedes dejar de visitar. Ahí encontrarás gran cantidad de especies marinas, de espectacular colorido. Es ideal para practicar esnórquel o buceo, y hay numerosas embarcaciones que ofrecen este tour.

La Cruz de la Bahía. Se colocó en conmemoración de la fundación de Isla Mujeres (17 de agosto de 1857). Mide 3 metros de alto, a 12 metros de profundidad. Está hecha en bronce y se ubica en el arrecife Manchones. Buzos y pescadores devotos descienden al lugar para encomendarse a ella.

En su interior se calientan rocas volcánicas conocidas como “abuelas” y se genera vapor rociándolas con agua de hierbas. El bañista recibe leves azotes con plantas medicinales, y la ceremonia concluye con la aspersión de agua fría. El calor estimula la circulación sanguínea, abre los poros y favorece la secreción de desechos como el ácido láctico, con el consiguiente efecto depurador y desintoxicante. Además suele aliviar alergias, resfriados y dolores artríticos.

Cozumel (Kosom, Lumil, in Maya, meaning Land of the Swallows) is the third largest island in México and the second most populous in the country. El Cielo. In Punta Sur park, a natural surprise awaits for your visit. In the Colombia Lagoon, you can enjoy the mangrove scenery, bird-watching, and even get to El Cielo and snorkel among starfish. A very special adventure.

San Gervasio. The island’s most important archaeological site. Place of worship for the Mayan goddess of fertility, Ixchel. It is a must-see if you want a complete panorama of the island and its significance for the ancient Maya.

Parque Chankanaab. It is a great monument to the nature of the island. Protected refuge for marine life along the western coast, Chankanaab’s sea is perfect for snorkeling or diving. It was declared a National Park in 1980.

The museum. Is small but has a lot of wonderful exhibits and presentations on screens with the history of the island. It also display examples of the famous coral reefs, as well as pieces from the time of the Spanish galleons and English pirates.

The ancient “city of Zamá” (“Sunrise,” in Maya) was what is now known as Tulum (which means “wall” in Mayan), referring to the wall that surrounds it. Isla Pájaros. Is located inside Yalahau lagoon, about ten minutes by boat from Holbox and is home to over a hundred species of birds, where you can enjoy bird-watching. Some types of birds on the island are in danger of extinction.

Scuba and Snorkel. The island is the ideal place for scuba diving and snorkeling with its calm and clear waters. You can also see the vast diversity of flora and fauna: turtles, dolphins, stingrays and variety of colorful fish and, of course, the whale shark.

Dolphin watching. Dolphins arrive in the morning to a quiet lagoon called Yalahau. This is the perfect place to watch them, sometimes with their young, since they are used to the boats. Baby dolphins are born in the summer, and also you can see them.

Watching turtles. On summer, thousands of turtles arrive to spawn at Punta Mosquito; at night they dig nests. After depositing dozens of eggs, they return to the ocean. The cycle is completed with the birth of small turtles that are later released to the ocean.

Cenote Yalahau. Cool freshwater spring that flows within the crystalline salt water, known as the “fountain of youth.” Here you can swim in the morning with the dolphins that come to feed on minnows or see the flamingos landing near this magical place.

Avistamiento de tortugas. Durante el verano llegan a Punta Mosquito miles de tortugas para desovar. Después de depositar los huevos regresan al mar, dejando sus frutos. El ciclo se ve concluido con el nacimiento de las pequeñas tortugas, que después son liberadas.

Cenote Yalahau. Manantial de fresca agua dulce cristalina que brota entre el agua salada, conocido como “la fuente de la juventud”. Aquí se puede nadar por las mañanas con los delfines que vienen a alimentarse de pececillos o ver a los flamencos que aterrizan cerca del mágico paraje.

The name Yucatán, according to legend, comes from the conquest, when a Spaniard asked a native what they called that place. Between November and April, Celestun offers unparalleled natural spectacle: the arrival of thousands of pink flamingos that enrich the landscape. Named Biosphere Reserve in 1979, the site has wonderful countryside ideal for photographers and nature lovers, as El Bosque Petrificado, El Tunel del Manglar, El Ojo de Agua and La Isla de los Pajaros. Puuc Route / Ruta Puuc Ruta Puuc is the name given to a 41 km network of secondary roads through Yucatán state along which you can visit part of the México’s Mayan cultural heritage. The route is marked with signs. Important sites are included on the route: Uxmal, Kabah, and Labaná. Puuc is the Mayan word for “hills”, and the Puuc region of the Yucatán is area of small rolling hills on a península which is otherwise quite flat.. La Ruta Puuc es el nombre dado a una red de 41 km de carreteras secundarias en el estado de Yucatán a lo largo de la cual se puede visitar parte del patrimonio cultural del México maya. Uno de los puntos fundamentales a tratar este año será la educación sobre esta bebida milenaria y auténtica mexicana, que representa el esfuerzo y la dedicación transmitidas de generación en generación en cada una de las distintas regiones productoras.

One of the key points to address this year will be education about this ancient and authentic Mexican beverage, that represents the effort and dedication passed from generation to generation in each of the different regions.

Contaremos con la participación de marcas comprometidas con mantener la tradición y el medio ambiente, así como a las comunidades que trabajan con tanto esfuerzo, pero sobre todo pasión. Recordemos que se trata de una bebida 100% mexicana. Puntualmente se llevarán a cabo degustaciones en las más de 40 sucursales de La Europea a lo largo del país, en los puntos más importantes como Guadalajara, Querétaro, Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Mérida y la Ciudad de México; cenas maridaje, y en general, eventos enfocados a promover el consumo responsable del mezcal en el México actual. Ancient city of the classical period and is located in the so-called Puuc area and is the most representative of this architectural style. The Puuc Route is the name given to a 41-km network of secondary roads through Yucatán state along which you can visit part of México’s Mayan cultural heritage. Puuc is the Mayan word for “hills”, and the Puuc is the Mayan word for “hills,” and the Puuc region of the Yucatán is an area of small rolling hills on a peninsula. Some travelers spend several days visiting all the sites along this route. Es uno de los campos con el slope más alto de todos, ya que sus fairways son muy estrechos y el driver derecho debe ser tu mejor aliado, si no es así trae muchas bolas extras. Su hoyo 10 es un par 4 corto que con el viento a favor y un buen drive, tu probabilidad de birdie es muy alta.

Un campo fácil y corto en Cozumel, pero con un diseño especial. Mucha fauna te acompaña a lo largo de tu ronda, cocodrilos, coatíes, armadillos, garzas y mucho más. El hoyo 16 par 5 es un verdadero reto, el promedio de tiro es de doble boggie, así que ahí tienes una tarea a mejorar.
