A year away from hosting the Olympic Games in Rio, it is the unwavering quality of Brazilian art and its vibrant scene that attracts visitors and high level exhibitors to the country’s contemporary art circuit. Brazil’s growing international dialogue led its main artists to show at major international museums, such as the Guggenheim in Bilbao, MoMA and Pérez Museum in Miami, just to name a few last year. In a symmetric movement, international renowned artists such as Yayoi Kusama, William Kentridge and Marina Abramovic had extensive retrosprective shows at local venues. The last 10 years have been game changing and in this time, Brazil has carved out its space in the international circuit.
SP-Arte/Foto
Modern, contemporary and vintage photography will be the focus at the 9th edition of Latin America’s leading photography fair, SP-Arte/Foto which will be held August 20-23 with a special preview for guests on August 19. The Fair includes 31 exhibitors representing major names in photography, with free admission to all visitors at JK Iguatemi Shopping Mall in São Paulo. In 2015 SP-Arte/Foto will have a second edition of Talks, in partnership with the magazine Arte!Brasileiros. There will also be book launches and parallel exhibitions related to photography and its history. Preview August 19th / On show from April August 20th to 23rd

Latitude is the title of the International Promotion Project for Brazilian Art Business which is a partnership between Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and ABACT (Brazilian Association of Contemporary Art). It was started in 2007 with the core goal of creating business opportunities for the art sector mainly through cultural promotion activities. During this period, the number of members increased. Currently, 48 primary market art galleries participate in Latitude, representing more than 1000 artists. Through a rich programme of activities that ranges from supporting Brazilian galleries in international fairs to promoting Art Immersion Trips for international guests in Brazil, Latitude aims to improve professionalism within the art market and provide new opportunities for Brazilian galleries to trade internationally.
