A Brief Overview

G13

A year away from hosting the Olympic Games in Rio, amidst a severe drought in São Paulo and nationwide political scandals, it is the unwavering quality of Brazilian art and its vibrant scene that attracts visitors and high level exhibitors to the country’s oldest art fair, SP-Arte. Brazil’s growing international dialogue led Ernesto Neto to show at the Guggenheim in Bilbao, Lygia Clark at MoMa and Beatriz Milhazes at the Pérez Museum in Miami last year, and Yayoi Kusama, William Kentridge and Marina Abramovic at local venues. The last 10 years have been game changing and in this time, Brazil has carved out its space in the international circuit.
