Team Leader Message I wish to start off by saying thank you! Thanks everyone for being so understanding and flexible with the recent changes to our front entrance and also with our Vale Street entrance access being closed off temporarily (I know that it’s taken me at least a month to stop driving down Vale street, I know that it must be so much more frustrating when you’re all rushing to get to work on time with a car full of children yourselves!). Your educators have been busy this the last month with professional development and in particular, we are excited to have been able to send Lauren, Ely & Allanah to complete training for the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Project. We’re looking forward to bringing a whole new level of learning for your children in implementing this project to our programs and teaching your children about positive food habits through hands-on learning!!

As we implement this program, we want to share with you a couple of simple recipes throughout the coming weeks (in this newsletter and via Xplor posts) which you can find using the Latrobe City Council Library resources. Delia Smith, author of 'Delia’s Complete How to Cook' says "When someone says, ‘Oh I can’t even boil an egg,’ what they are actually saying is, ‘I can’t cook anything at all'." So let’s start there! Follow Delia’s simple tips for boiled eggs cooked exactly how you like them. Placing your boiled eggs in icy cold water once they’ve finished cooking makes even the freshest eggs easy to peel. http://bit.ly/30BSnEt
Look for Delia Smith’s 'How to Cook' on the non-fiction shelves (location 641. 5 SMIT) at your Latrobe City Library. - Emily Van Der Pluym

Thanks everyone for bringing in your up to date immunisation history statements after each of your child/ren’s immunisations. In case you weren’t aware, as a part of the ‘No Jab, No Play’ law you are required to provide an up to date Immunisation History Statement on enrolment and when your child receives a vaccine/s while attending. Immunisation History Statements from the Australian Immunisation Register can be printed form your myGov account. You can also get your statement by visiting a Medicare service centre or by phoning the AIR enquiries line on 1800 653 809.
Setting up “Xplorers” in your Xplor App It is required by national regulations that we have a record of your child’s emergency contacts. This includes any Authorised nominee/person other than Parent/Guardian who can collect the child, be contacted in an emergency, accident, injury, trauma or illness involving the child, and who can consent to the medical treatment and permit administration of medication to the child. These are the people you are able to register in your Xplor App as an “Xplorer” to give them their own login in details to sign in/out your child from the service. Please note: If you set someone up as an “Xplorer” or if there is a person you wish to add or remove from your child’s emergency contact record, you will need to give the centre

1. In the Xplor app, go to 'Settings' > Click the 'Postcard Icon' in the top right hand corner of the page.
3. A confirmation message stating 'Invitation Sent' will appear, press 'Ok'. An email will be sent to the ‘Xplorer’ and they will need to create a password. This account only allows them to use the Xplor Hub and view the child's learning journey. They will not have access to comment, like or view any sensitive information about the child.

Fees 19/20 Please be advised that at the ordinary council meeting held on Monday, 3 June 2019, Council adopted the fees and charges for the 2019-2020 Financial year. The new fees and charges will come into effect from Monday, 1 July 2019. We just want to remind families the importance of only signing the child in/out of the room that you’re dropping-off/collecting from. We use this as a reflection of who we are responsible for at any given time and if you’ve signed in a child down one end of the building because you’re on your way up to drop them off into their room at the other end of the building, this can give us a serious fright when we’re looking for your child in the room when they haven’t been dropped-off. We appreciate your understanding. PARENTS/AUTHORISED PERSONS ONLY should be entering the code for the MELC entrance. This is for your child’s and others children’s safety. Please also do not hold the automatic doors open and please remember to shut the gate behind you, especially if there is a child running ahead of their parent. Please do not let your older children sign in/out themselves on the iPad. Again, this should be used by staff and authorised persons/parents only as we use this as a reflection of who is in attendance at the service (we don’t want children signing themselves out during the day!).
