FASHION 2013 2013 is an exciting year for Laura Ashley. It’s the year we are celebrating 60 years of design heritage - Six decades since Laura and Bernard Ashley first produced hand printed scarves on their kitchen table in Pimlico; the story since then has been well documented and now we look towards the upcoming season and the balance between our history, our new collections and our designs of the future. Initial thoughts for AW13 began with a reflection on the archive; we wanted to create a capsule collection based on original prints and silhouettes that would be worn in a celebration of Laura Ashley’s heritage. Continuing the theme of heritage and tradition is the ’Town and Country’ (p4) collection, centred on beautiful fabrics and classic colours. Bold colours play pivotal roles in our distinct ‘Berry Chic’ (p6) and ‘Electric Jade’ (p2) stories, with rich, vibrant hues adding interest to these feminine collections. Providing a contemporary edge to the season is the ‘Wild Side’ (p22) collection, while ‘Neon Candy’ (p12) combines hot shades with unexpected fabric combinations to create a stylised look. Of course we hope that you will also like our gorgeous new Girlswear collection. Our energy and pride in our range grows season after season, through original design, diverse inspiration and creative passion. Each collection we create is designed to inspire and excite our customers and your readers alike, through print, colour, pattern and design – we hope you enjoy the new season.
