CANTABRIAN WATERSHED

The Cantabrian watershed is the smallest in Spain its river are short and very steep, because they rise in the Cantabrian mountains close to the sea. Luna


THE ATLANTIC WATERSHED  Is the largest in area. Its rivers are usually

long, because they rise in mountains a long way from the Atlantic Ocean, which they flow into.

• These rivers have an abundant flow and a regular flow regime because it often rains here.

THE RIVERS OF THE INNERS PLATEAU. • These are the longest rivers on the Peninsula, because they rise in mountains a long way from the sea. • • EX: Duero, Tajus and Guadiana. Sara


RIVERS OF ANDALUSIA. • With the exception of the Guadalquivir, Andalusia rivers are short and have irregular flow regimes.

THE GULLIES OF THE CANARY ISLANDS. • There are no continuous watercourses on the Canary Islands, because the climate is very dry. There are gullies, wich are deep channels where water flows when it rains heavily.
