My name is Laura Cordella and I am a young architect. As soon as I obtained my Master’s degree I studied to achive the abilitation. Thanks to my experiences abroad I faced challenges that l had not dealt with before, and l would like to further my knowledge and put to practice what I have learnt over the years as an architecture student and intern. Infact, I spent an year in England with the Erasmus+ scholarship and a period of training in Portugal and that improved first of all my english, and last but not least how to deal with new academic and professional realities. I have always worked, into different fields, to support my studies and my stay abroad, so I am able to work within a team and effectively alone, but in both scenarios I take each situation on with a serious and motivated attitude. I might have to thank athletics, that I practised for a long time and surf that takes my mind completly, for my perseverance and obstinacy in following what I want. My wish is to learn and progress my capabilities from an architecture scale to a detailed design stage, even with the help of new progams. Growing with a stimulating company is the best expectation i could achive with my ambition.

Worldwide aspects such as modularity, versatility, sustainability, and montage are described firstly in a universal way and then are concretely defined in the context of Oporto. An imaginary scenario of a tragic situation is given by some reflections upon the city itself (urban gaps, consumption of soil ecc). The research wants to give immediate answers to satisfy both the urban issues and cultural adequacy, identity and social dignity; giving an example on how might be the reaction in front of post-disasters problems. Although, the used methodology could be transferred to other realities, in fact, the units has the purpose to be adaptable to other cultural and territorial contexts, making this study useful to face other possible future situations.

ACADEMIC PROJECT (UK)

The project of a m u s i c a c a d e m y is located in the College Green in the central area of Bristol.

In particular this site includes the St.Mark church, and a neightbouring to the west, while on the front of the site facing the green area, Park street dominates the scene with pubs, restaurants, shops. The Banksy’s drawings blacket the city of Bristol. The well hung lover is located very close to the site of the project, in front of College Green. The presence of this piece of art, shows us the strong connection between the music and art, two movements bound together, in the Bristol Underground Scene. In fact Banksy, took part of this aggregation, making real the importance of music and art as things that can improve your life.

ACADEMIC PROJECT (UK)

The will to have a “home” for budding musicians, led Colston Hall and the Bristol Buskers association to create a temporary buskers “kiosk”. It will operate between 1st june and 31st august., and it can presente performances durging day and night. As the architecture must be temporary: the structure has to be demounted seasonally, with an easy transportation, unpacking and construction. The location of the kiosk will have a “light touch” on the area. However it is possible to redesign other forniture such as park benches, bollards etc, but the place must do the same job as before once the temporary structure has been removed.

All these aspects take part in the designing iter and help in the drawing of a new place. The importance of a solid structure and the mantainement of its own architectural beauties is part of the concept project and has been studied in all aspects. With it, the wish to be used by the university community and the citizens. The aim is to create a place of sharing, an academic and professional meeting point but also give place to conferences, talks and cultural and/or art events.
