My Life By: Christopher Nelson ! My life consists of very few yet important things. It consists of sports, friends, family, music, and lifting. I play football and I run track. It football I am a tight end/left tackle. And in Track I run the 400 and I do long jump. I love football because it’s the one time where you can hit somebody as hard as you want and not get in trouble. I love track because of the feeling you get when you win. There is no feeling like winning the first race you ever ran. Thats what happened to me and I instantly fell in love with it. My life consists of friends because I am constantly with them and I don’t know where I would be today without them. I chose family because no matter what happens you’re always gonna have you’re family there for you and they will always stand by your side. Music is part of me because there are so many genres that you can chose from. Music can describe exactly how you feel everyday. I always think of listening to Rock music when I am mad or when I am lifting. I listen to Hip Hop/Rap when I am working on something or I just want to chill. Country is different because you can listen to it in any mood. Music has a way of explaining people. Now finally there’s lifting. Lifting does everything for me. It’s an indescribable feeling. When every single muscle in your body is on fire from the lift you just lifted and how hard you just worked it’s a great feeling. Now you know about my life.
Lifting By: Christopher Nelson ! I absolutely love lifting and it’s also a big part of my life. I love lifting because I love the feeling you get when you’re maxing out on the bench press, or squatting, or power cleaning, and who can forget dead lifting. The feeling you get in your muscles, every single vein in your body bulging out of your skin. Also the burn you feel in your muscles, it’s great. When your done after maxing at something you didn’t think you could do is great. It’s even better when there’s someone else who thought you couldn’t do a certain weight and then you do. That feeling of knowing you just proved them wrong, and that you impressed them is great. But there’s more to lifting than just maxing ; there’s lifting to get stronger. Doing more repetitions, and doing more weight in one lift. To me and many others lifting is a passion, it’s more than just lifting to get stronger, it’s something you do to feel at peace with yourself. You’ve got to have a certain respect for everyone in that weight room that’s actually going hard. Also you make new friends, and meet new people when you lift. You also get the opportunity to impress upper class men in the weight room. You can do all of this. You can get stronger, love the feeling, meet new people, prove to other people that you’re stronger than you look, you can impress your coaches, and you can do all of that while having fun and relieving stress. Now that’s why I love it.
Football By: Christopher Nelson Football is one sport that Im really good at. It’s also one of my favorite sports to watch and play. I play offense and defense. On offense I play lift tackle/tight end, and on defense I play anywhere on the line. I love football because I love the rules and fundamentals of it. I love the hitting. Football is the one sport where you can just hit someone with everything you’ve got and not get in trouble for it. You actually get props for hitting somebody. I also love blocking people. Having two linemen going at each other using every muscle in there body and seeing who’s the stronger opponent. When you push someone back and put them on there butt and then sack the quarterback is an amazing sight to see. It’s even better to experience! You make some of your best friends in football. Your team becomes your family. Every coach I have are all amazing at it. They always know what play to call in a game and they know what drill to do to help you when you’re playing. Football also makes you bigger, faster, and stronger. Every friday we would go to the weight room and lift. On the other days when we didn’t have a game and we had practice we would start out in a group of what position you played. You would do that for about an hour and the other hour you would scrimmage. Scrimmages are always fun because you’re playing your own team and having fun with it. Also if you screwed up it wouldn't cost you a touch down.
Track By: Christopher Nelson ! Track is an amazing sport. It’s not like most sports though; Track is about you. You can’t rely on the other players. Track is all about what you can do and how hard you can push yourself. In track a lot of people thought I would be slow since Im a linemen. Even kids I competed against thought that I would be slow because of the fact of me being a linemen. I proved them wrong in the first race I had ever ran it though. My first race was an Open 400. I was in the last heat (The last heat being the fastest) and I was extremely nervous but I had Robert Glassmaker standing on my blocks telling me exactly what to do. The ref had shot the gun and I had beat everyone out of the blocks and started getting into my stride on the corner. Once I hit straight track I went into a dead sprint and had taken first place, going back into the corner I hear my coach yell from the corner “Push yourself Nelson”. They started gaining on me so then once again when we got onto the straight stretch I gave it everything I had. I then again developed a lead on everybody. Going past the bleachers I heard every West Salem fan yelling my name. It was the best feeling ever! So I get to the finish line and I ran past it because I didn’t know where to stop. I eventually stopped and all of my coaches and team mates congratulated me and said things like “You’re really fast” and “You really showed everyone who had doughted you”. I loved it! I never went a race without getting firstthird. I also jumped long jump. For that I always got first or second. I could jump around 16 feet and I set the Middle Schools record at 15 feet 8 inches. That first race is why I fell in love with track.
My Name By: Christopher Nelson ! I was named Christopher because there used to be a place in the mall named Christopher’s and thats where my mom and dad met. When they got married they wanted me to be named something special and when they found out I was gonna be a boy they named me Christopher. My name comes from the greek origin meaning “Bearer of Christ”. My name is ranked 21 of 1000 popular boy names in the U.S. I think my name fits me perfectly! ! The restaurant that my parents met at shut down the year I was born. I always wondered what it would be like to go there and see what it was like. They have always told me its an actual sit down and eat restaurant. I still think it would be very cool to see and tell them that I was named after that place. Also that that is where my parents met. I think I would hopefully get a monument there or something. That would be amazing to see! Every time I think of my name it reminds me of the mall. ! Like I said my name is based on The “Bearer of Christ”. I think Christopher is one of the coolest names a kid could have. I come from a very religious family that goes to church almost every sunday and almost every wednesday. I think being named after the bearer of christ is very special to me. I feel very safe and special knowing thats what Im named after. My name means a lot to me and I love it. My name also means a lot to my entire family. I love it!

My Family By: Christopher Nelson ! I’ve got a very big family even though my parents are divorced. My parents got divorced when I was only four years old. They tore my family in two. See Im half Nelson and Half Stumlin. I remember one christmas in particular when they were still together; we had both sides of the family all together. If I remember right we had all of my moms family and their husbands/wives and we had all of my dads family with their husbands/ wives; and of course we had all of their kids in our little house. We literally had around forty people in that little house in west salem. Everyone one loved each other except for my mom and dad. They barely made it through that christmas and they were right. That was the last christmas where I was with my mom and dad together on the same day. About three months after that christmas my mom kicked my dad out of the house and then they got divorced. After the divorce I didn’t really see my dad until I was seven years old. I then started getting close to my dad again. That didn’t work out so well. Once again around christmas when I was eight and my sister Ashley was 12 or 13 we were having an early christmas at my dads with his side of the family and on that same night my mom was having her christmas party for work so after we had christmas at my dads my dad went to take us home and he dropped us off and said that he would call us before bedtime. He did as usual and told us goodnight and that he was just gonna run to kwik trip and get a pop and go to bed. At this time it was about nine o clock and my mom was getting ready to leave. My mom thought she was old enough to watch me and be home alone for one hour. I thought she was too so my mom left. I guess my mom went to kwik trip to get gas and she saw my dad there and they started talking and mom told him that she was gonna go out for 1 hour. My dad lost it. He thought that my sister was to young and called us and started yelling. After that night I didn’t talk to him for two years and now we just started talking again. Im finally developing a father-son relationship with my dad.
Getting In Trouble By: Christopher Nelson ! There is one time in particular that I remember getting in trouble. It was last year in June and it was over one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made. I live in Bangor, Wisconsin and my girlfriend at the time lived in West Salem and she hated her house and her parents. Therefore one night when It was really hot and humid and she said that her and her mom got in a fight and she was very upset and just wanted to be with me, so she ran away. She biked from West Salem all the way to Bangor at 10:30pm at night just to see me. My mom just got home from her second job at 10:00pm so I had to sneak her through my bedroom window. That was where I really screwed up. She ended up spending the night at my house and the next morning I sure had a rude awakening. I woke up to my mom pulling me out of my bed and taking me to the kitchen. When we got to the kitchen she asked me why Maya was in my bed and at our house. I then thought that I might as well just tell her the truth so I did. She was furious. She told me all of the consequences that could happen. I then began very worried. Somehow I knew everything would be all right at the end. I woke Maya up and said that she should tell her that she was going to her friends house. So she did and her mom was thankfully okay with it. I then asked my mom if Maya could at least spend the day with me. She said it was fine but I wasn’t getting off the hook once we dropped her off that night. My mom kept asking me questions like her mom knows she’s here right and she’s okay with it right? I lied to my mom and said yeah it’s fine. Mom then left for work and I told Maya that she would have to go home that night and have a good long talk with her mom. She surprisingly agreed with me. That night we dropped her off and me and my mom had one of the quietest and most awkward rides home ever. When I got home she said very few things to me. I was grounded the rest of the summer, I had no phone, TV, laptop, and no friends over. I missed so many opportunities that summer because of it and what was it for. I was single a week after it. It definitely wasn’t worth it.
The Time I Saw Someone Get In Trouble By: Christopher Nelson ! There is one time that sticks out in my head of someone getting in trouble. It was last year and it was track season. We were doing warm ups on the track and then coach said bring it in boys so we did. He told us that practice was going to run a little later than usual. I was okay with that. Nobody else was though. The rest of the team was furious but they had to deal with it if they wanted to stay on the team. We were running because of a practice that we had a while back and I guess we were being very disrespectful. We ended up running the bleachers for 20 minutes. After that when we all felt dead we had to go and run the hill for 20 minutes also. After that we were literally exhausted and felt like we were going to pass out. None of us did thankfully. Anyways after the bleachers and the hills we had to run two times around the block. Around the block once was one mile. So we had to run two miles. We started on the first one and it actually felt amazing after everything else we had done that day. On our second lap it got interesting. We were passing the High School and some kids in a blue mustang saw us running and did a burn out of the parking lot and sped past us giving us a certain finger and yelling stuff at us. Little did they know that they had a cop coming up on them. The cop pulled them over and ticketed them. Now that’s the time I saw someone get in trouble.
