02. LUCID MAGAZINE A 6 week group project to produce an original magazine that suits an identified target consumer as well as filling a gap in the current magazine market. The concept, which was back up by research findings, entailed a minimal lifestyle focus whilst featuring themes of health, mindfulness and travel.

During the project I took on the role of research editor, which involved gathering ideas from the weekly group meetings before researching in detail and reporting back to the group. I wrote three features including ‘Balancing Act’ ‘Zen Den’ and ‘Morning Master’, contributed to planning and organisation as styling and researching new ideas. The team held weekly meetings where each team member discussed the layout and content of the magazine, helped to organise the photo shoots and communicate with contributors. Project management, organisation and team communication were key skills I learnt within this project.

03. CASE STUDY To explore the role of the grime music scene in relation to the popularisation of the streetwear clothing trend

The recent popularisation of the streetwear clothing trend can be partly explained by theories of ‘innovation and adaption’, laver’s Law and ‘bubble up’; although the profitable relationship between the music and fashion industry has been established, it remains unclear as to the links between grime music and streetwear clothing. The purpose of this case study is to examine the specific role of the grime music scene in relation to recent popularisation of the streetwear trend. Online survey and email interview methods are integrated into the research with the aim to compare changing opinions of grime music and streetwear clothing. Links between dates of significant success for the grime music scene and the streetwear clothing trend are analysed in a comparative case study in order to discover any significant correlations between them. The participants are recruited through a combination of the accidental and purposive nonprobability sampling techniques

Street style has always been fascinating to me, I love the originality and uniqueness of innovators and trend setters all over the world. After becoming aware of the growing grime music scene and the street style that it adopts it became clear to me that there could be a possible link between the success of the two. For my final year case study I conducted an in-depth investigation regarding the effect that the UK grime music scene has had on the ever growing streetwear fashion trends. I was lucky to interview successful grime artist P Money, urban photographer Vicky Grout and Nina Manandhar author of ‘What we wore’ to find their thoughts on the

The prominent findings within the case study establish that there is in fact a significant relationship between the adoption of the grime music scene and the popularisation of the streetwear trend. The quantitative data presents that streetwear clothing is now widely accepted by individuals of all backgrounds. The qualitative data adds that the grime music scene is now perceived to be less representative of the negative stereotypes in which the genre once withheld. With critical analysis of the engaged research methods and the integration of data types this case study presents crucial details of the unrecorded relationship of two rapidly thriving industries. FINAL MAJOR PROJECT

A self initiated brief to launch Akiko, a new online art and home décor brand. The aim was to establish a secure online presence as well as building brand awareness and customer loyalty for the Akiko brand therefore the promotional strategy involves the launch of both a new website and app platform, which is supported by a social media plan and blogger press pack. The brand is a personal project that I created with a friend as a proposed platform to sell the artwork and crafts we make together; after researching the target consumer and current market situation it became clear that there is a gap in the market for a new sustainable home décor brand that supports mindful living. This project has allowed me the opportunity to establish my skills in project management including time management, communicating with professionals and organising photo shoots as well as analysing the market, researching consumers and the forming and execution of promotional strategy plans.

05. JAMIE LONG A second year group project in which we were set the task of creating a brand to showcase the work of a fashion design student collection. The concept entails Jamie Long, a luxury heritage menswear brand that combines a modern twist on classic tailoring with a forward thinking approach to design innovation to form a truly unique menswear label that appeals to a fresh young market. Together we created a promotional plan for the launch of the Jamie Long flagship store upon the famous Saville Row, which adopted aspects of digital marketing in order to catch the attention of new consumers as well as forming loyalty. The tactics involved a minimal interactive website, YouTube videos and style blog as well as maintaining a high level of involvement within the social media community.

As a team we constructed a brand handbook, which displayed the brand values, market positioning, identity and characteristics of the Jamie Long brand. In addition, we put together a collection look book to support the promotional launch plan whilst displaying the innovative products that the brand has to offer. My role: Research Jamie Long website design Promotional strategy report contribution Help organising photo shoots This project allowed me to develop skills in team work, organisation and communication whilst growing my knowledge of marketing, promotional strategies and brand identity.
