Our History... Godiva was founded in 1926, in Brussels, Belgium by Joseph Draps. Acquired by Campbell Soup in 1966, the company spent the next 40 years on a global growth strategy to become the brand it is today.

The company was subsequently acquired in 2008 by Yildiz Holdings, a $10 billion global food business, founded, and currently headquartered, in Istanbul, Turkey. More recently Yildiz has formed pladis, a new global biscuit and confectionery entity, poised to compete in these FDM categories around the world. Pladis is comprised of all Yildiz B & C brands such as Ulker, United Biscuits (McVitties, Carr’s) DeMet’s (Turtles and Flipz) and Godiva’s mass market offerings.

OUR ENVIRONMENT Geography... Our internship is based out of Godiva’s North American Manufacturing plant, located in Exeter Township, Berks County PA. We are in a suburban setting, but only 15 minutes from Reading, PA and less than 1 hour west of Philadelphia. Being in the heart of the mid-Atlantic,

we are also less than 3 hours from New York City and Washington, DC. That said, public transportation is limited, so having a vehicle is recommended. That said, we have had several interns who managed without -- by using public transportation and/or ride sharing.

5

Demographics... Our Exeter Plant is a 175,000 sqare foot facility, with both candy making and packing operations, and making products in an incredibly diverse environment. The North American Supply Chain organization is made up of more than 80 individuals of all ages, sex and races, and is comprised

6

of the following functions: Operations, Planning, Logistics, Packaging Engineering, Plant Engineering, and Procurement among others. We have two Distribution facilities; our North American DC in Orefield, PA (near Allentown) and our Direct to Consumer fulfillment center in Martinsville, VA.

OUR TEAM 7

Who We Are... In North America, we are a team of 3 Packaging Engineers (PE’s), lead by a “working” Senior Manager with 15 + years experience managing the function. The team reports into the Supply Chain (our Supply

8

Chain Director also has a PE background and education). In short, we are passionate about the PE function and the role it plays in making our products and brand what they truly are.

Our Global Reach... In addition to our team here at the Pennsylvania manufacturing site, we also have a sister plant in Brussels, Belgium with 2 PE’s, and have a presence in Shanghai, China (1 PE), Tokyo, Japan (1 PE) and are soon to have a PE in Hong Kong as well. While the PE function currently reports into each regions Supply Chain, we are a tight-knit group with close communications amongst us.

Furthermore, chocolates produced at our plant make their way to many of our other regions (most notably Asia); our packaging is sourced globally, again with China and Asia having significant presence in our supply regions. So we have both customer and supply base all over the world, and as such are communicating regularly with these regions, and solving problems together.

10

OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM How It Works... Our program typically has 2 PE interns on staff for roughly 6 month intervals centered around the academic year (January through June, and July through December). As such, as an incoming intern you would be jumping in with a partner, both new to our business at the same time, and being guided by one or more of our PE team members. We attempt to have overlap of 1-2 weeks with the outgoing PE intern(s) to help with the transition.

11

What You Do and Learn... PE intern responsibilities include (but are not limited to): • Package development support • Distribution testing (IST) • Measuring and PIM (weights & measures) data collection and input • Specification writing and data input • Packaging problem solving • Protocol writing and documentation While the bulk of your time is spent at the PA factory and offices, there will likely be some limited travel to local packaging suppliers to learn their capabilities and external testing. 12

TESTIMONIALS 13

I would highly recommend Godiva Chocolatier’s Packaging Engineer Co-op Program. You will be able to work with cross-functional teams and suppliers for package development, cost savings, and package improvement projects. Godiva has a very comfortable work environment and the people are great! The packaging engineers continuously challenge you to understand the “WHY” in projects and let you lead projects of your own, while always there for guidance when needed. Godiva Chocolatier is a great company to work for and I am proud to say that I have been apart of such a talented, fun, and motivated team. - Amanda B., 2016

Interning at Godiva Chocolatier was perhaps the most rewarding experience at the start of my career, both in terms of knowledge, as well as exposure to the packaging industry. I got to work on various projects, ranging from packaging design to innovations, which helped me multitask on a welldefined timeline. I am thankful to the whole Packaging Engineering team for molding me for the industry and I promise you that you will have a blast working here! - Anand S., 2016 14

OUR RESULTS 15

What We Do...

G

Our PE team, and the internship program supporting the team, contributes immensely to the business. We protect the brand by building and testing packaging designed to work in our operation, withstand the rigors of the distribution environment, and present beautifully to the end consumer. We offer options to our internal business partners, and we save the company money. As a PE intern you will be challenged to help in these efforts in tasks both large and small. We expect our team to have a strong work ethic and be proactive. By the end of the program, we will ask you to present some of your work to our team (and possibly others) so that we can learn from you, and help you articulate what you have taken from the experience.

16

Where We Go... Our former PE interns – in limited cases – have been hired on in permanent roles. PE interns have gone on to graduate and land roles in companies such as: • Godiva - US and China • The Hershey Company • Kimberly-Clark • Kohler Co. • Stanley Black & Decker, Inc.

17

Caveats... While we have no ability to guarantee duplicating the mentioned success stories, our track record shows Godiva’s commitment to the program, as well as the discerning nature

18

of our selection process. We always bring on the best and the brightest, challenge our PE interns, and work to enhance the experiences of both the interns and our team!
