Design 6
My idea is based on the combination of mixing two art aspects together, Art Deco and 1950s Science Fiction. Using the Art Deco flat colour style I created eight images with 1950s Science Fiction content, mixing the flat colour style with the original science fiction photographic element to help bring the characters to life. I traced the outlines of the images and placed them over the top to make them bolder and neater. The designs were put into eight different circles all of which were a different colour. The circles represent the never
ending, ongoing and the future. I found quotes of predictions of what people 100 years ago thought today would be like, selecting eight of them to put with all of my designs. The majority of these predictions have not come true. I put these quotes into a font called Futured. This font has a science look to it as well as a futuristic feel, which linked to the themes behind my designs. Working around the circles I experimented with where to place the quote and decided it should go around the whole circle in order to add to the idea of the
future and the ongoing. The type for each design is in the same shade of grey in order to link the designs together as a set, the circle shapes also help to do this. However, on each design I have put the first word of the sentence into the colour of the relating circle in each individual design. This is to help link the quote to the design as well as to locate where the sentence begins so that it is easier for the eye to read. I carefully chose which quote to link with which design by choosing a design that related to what is being said in the quote.

Logo Swing
30
The logo represents a solar system. This idea links to space, the universe and science which all links to the science fiction theme present throughout the t-shirt designs. The solar system logo design is made up of several circles. This relates to the consistent use of circles through the t-shirt designs. Simple colours and clear cut typography have been used in order to link to the Art Deco style which is also present throughout the designs. Textures have been added over the top of the circles to help make them look like planets and therefore relating to space.
The logo has been put into a blue circle in order to create a swing tag. The circle links to the theme of circles present throughout the designs and the blue links to space. Crumpled paper textures were applied to express the idea of distortion and also signifying the idea of something being from the past relating to the quotes used in the t-shirt designs. A dog tag chain has been used to be able to attach the tag to the t-shirt. The silver metal links to science, experimentation and inventions and the little balls relate to the circle theme in the designs.
