MATERIALS DESCRIPTION
Paperboard It is a thick paper-based material. Paperboard can be easily cut and formed, is lightweight, and because it is strong, is used in packaging. Another end-use is high quality graphic printing, such as book and magazine covers or postcards. Paperboard is also used in fine arts for creating sculptures.
Wood Wood is a hard-fibrous material that forms the main substance of the trunk or branches of a tree or shrub. It is highly versatile. It is relatively light in weight, it has good strength in both tension and compression; and provides rigidity, toughness and insulating properties. For the boat I’ve used a chopstick that is mainly made by aspen wood
Cork Cork is the bark of the Cork Oak tree (Quercus suber L). The cork is a very elastic, soft, and light material, ork has developed into a key material in many industries including construction, technology and fashion. With its multiple formats- natural, composition, granulated and rubber/corkcork’s attributes cannot be found in any other single resource.
Polystyrene It is a thick paper-based material. Paperboard can be easily cut and formed, is lightweight, and because it is strong, is used in packaging. Another end-use is high quality graphic printing, such as book and magazine covers or postcards. Paperboard is also used in fine arts for creating sculptures.
Tetra pack Cardboard Tetra pack cardboard is composed by 3 basic materials: Cardboard which is the main material, it provides strength, and smoothness for the printing surface. Polyethilene, which protects form outside moisture and allows cardboard to stick to aluminum foil. Aluminum foil protects against oxygen and light to maintain the nutitrional calue and taste of the food in the container at room temperature.
