Stone and light. Out of the very depths of the earth, to the infinite heights of the sky. Atelier Alain Ellouz takes these extremes to heart and transcends them in a creative dynamic that accents simplicity and clean lines. The combined talents of designers Marion Biais-Sauvêtre and Alexis Jouvin have given life to Alain Ellouz’ ambitious project, revolutionizing the previously existing collections of lights into must-have luminaires. By creating clean original lines, seamlessly integrating sophisticated techniques and continuously innovating, Atelier Alain Ellouz has never lost sight of its objective: the pursuit of perfection. The result of this shared work is a dazzling collection of alabaster and crystal. These creations of the 2017 Collection are in keeping with works of art that focus on greater freedom and flexibility of shape and light.

Pierre et lumière. L’une est issue des profondeurs de la terre, l’autre de l’infinie hauteur des cieux. L’Atelier Alain Ellouz se nourrit de cette antinomie. Il la transcende, dans une dynamique créative qui privilégie simplicité des formes et pureté des lignes. Les talents associés des designers Marion Biais-Sauvêtre et Alexis Jouvin ont donné vie à l’ambitieux projet d’Alain Ellouz, révolutionnant la gamme existante des luminaires pour en faire une collection incontournable. Intention de lignes pures et originales, intégration de techniques sophistiquées mais invisibles : l’innovation est leur guide, la perfection leur objectif. Résultat de ce travail commun, une époustouflante collection d’albâtre et de cristal. AT E L I E R A L A I N E L L O U Z Atelier Alain Ellouz is an exceptional creative arts workshop. Opened in Paris in 2005, it brings together in one space a workshop, design centre and showroom. It exports 85% of its production around the world, with showrooms in London and New York. True artisans of stone, the designers and craftsmen work with two magnificent materials, alabaster and rock crystal whose rich intensity and depth of colour inspire their quest for sleek design. L’Atelier Alain Ellouz est un atelier d’art créatif exceptionnel. Ouvert à Paris en 2005, il réunit sur un même site atelier, bureaux de design et showroom. Il exporte 85% de sa production dans le monde, avec des showroom à Londres et à New-York. Each piece is an original and dynamic work of art, chiselled personally by the Spanish sculptor Paco Puyuelo, who has been a member of Atelier Alain Ellouz since 2015. SOHO Pendant light / Suspension Two discs held together in a vertical suspension. The union of these shimmering twins, joined by a subtle metal interior ring, mixes cohesion and originality to the whole composition. Soho, deux disques assemblés et suspendus à la verticale. SUMATRA Vertical pendant light / Suspension verticale It is the cylinder of myriad possibility ; whether as a vertical or horizontal pendant lamp, alone, in clusters, or as a wall lamp. The pure and simple lines of its geometry are subtly intensified by an integrated back-lighting. The various combinations of multiple light fixtures evolve into an infinite variety of simple or majestic chandeliers. THE ALABASTER A Hidden Richness Revealed / Révélation d’une richesse enfouie Alabaster is a rare, secret, mysterious stone hidden in small quantities under layers of other rock. Mostly made up of gypsum, its porosity soaks up mineral and plant sediments. They criss-cross throughout creating subtle nuances and patterns. Only a careful and rigorous selection process brings out the most beautiful compositions. Naturally translucent, alabaster plays at subtle games of light. The rock quarry of its birth, its particular cut and thickness all influence its subtle shades and transparent qualities and give it a surprising richness. This unique and precious material is what we, at Atelier Alain Ellouz, develop as the building block of our creations. L’albâtre est une pierre rare, secrète, mystérieuse, qui se dissimule en petites quantités sous des couches d’autres roches. Composée en grande partie de gypse, elle est perméable et se laisse traverser de sédiments végétaux et minéraux. Ils dessinent en elle des formes et motifs subtils. Seule une sélection attentive et rigoureuse permet les plus belles compositions. Naturellement translucide, l’albâtre s’offre aux jeux subtils de lumière. Sa carrière de provenance, le sens de la découpe effectuée, son épaisseur, influent sur sa tonalité et ses qualités de transparence. Le résultat est toujours d’une surprenante richesse. C’est cette matière, unique et précieuse, que recherche et travaille l’Atelier Alain Ellouz pour ses réalisations.

ALAIN ELLOUZ A Sculptor at Heart / Sculpteur dans l’âme Alain Ellouz is first and foremost a sculptor. It is his meditation; he creates deeply and patiently. Led to alabaster by insatiable curiosity and an extensive knowledge of stone craft, Alain now reshapes it for the world of interior design. By mastering its qualities and building on its flaws, he transforms what seems commonplace into a jewel. His artistry does the rest. In 2005 he began his quest to reveal the hidden treasure of each unique stone. Since then, he has been the inspiration and impetus behind the workshop’s creations, as mirrored by the stunning collections he has designed each year. Alain Ellouz est d’abord un sculpteur. Il pratique cet art comme une méditation, avec patience et profondeur. Sa connaissance de la pierre et son insatiable curiosité l’ont conduit à l’albâtre. Décidé à porter la pierre d’albâtre dans le monde de l’architecture d’intérieur, Alain l’a réhabilitée. S’appropriant ses qualités et s’appuyant sur ses défauts, il transforme sa banalité apparente en joyau. Son sens artistique fait le reste. Inspirateur autant qu’acteur, il impulse depuis 2005 les créations de l’atelier, guidé par le constant souci de révéler les trésors cachés d’une pierre unique. Alabaster is a warm living rock whose purity brings it to life. For both Marion Biais-Sauvêtre and Alexis Jouvin, the workshop’s two designers, it comes down to showcasing the stone, and to using sleek structures to compose new models.
