• A possessive noun is a noun that shows who or what owns or has something. • Form a singular possessive noun by adding an apostrophe (’) and an -s to a singular noun. • A person’s name or a collective noun that ends in -s also has an apostrophe (’) and an -s in the possessive form.
Complete each sentence by writing the possessive form of the noun in parentheses. 1. My (sister) paintings are being sold in a gallery. 2. We will attend the (show) opening tonight. 3. An invitation arrived from the (gallery) owner. 4. The paintings show scenes from our (family) history. 5. My (mother) favorite is the portrait of my father.
