The Lausanne Way Award
The Lausanne Way award is presented annually to an individual who, through their actions and accomplishments, embodies the core values embedded in The Lausanne Way.
On September 21, 2021, The Lausanne Way Award was presented to Lausanne’s own Peggy McIntyre Reed. Serving in numerous roles, most notably as Assistant to the Headmaster, Peggy has been an integral member of the Lausanne community for twenty-five years. She has been a dedicated servant leader, nurturer and tireless cheerleader of all things Lausanne, undertaking each task and challenge with tenacity and enthusiasm and always doing so with a generous spirit. Her pervasive warmth, humility and unwavering dedication serve as a model for us all.
Peggy retired from Lausanne in the Summer of 2021. As an added measure of gratitude for her many years of service, Lausanne’s administrative lobby, now referred to as the McIntyre Reed Admin Lobby, was dedicated in her name.
2022 Chair of Ideas Ryan Thornton ’08
Chair of Ideas
One of the school’s most prestigious honors, the title of Lausanne Chair of Ideas has been awarded twenty-three times since 1994 to Lausanne alumni and other distinguished individuals, continuing a tradition that began with the school’s Distinguished Speaker’s Series in the 1960s, during which individuals such as Margaret Mead, William F. Buckley, B.F. Skinner and Aldous Huxley spoke to our students.
On March 8, 2022, this title was bestowed upon Ryan Thornton ‘08. With a resume boasting esteemed roles at Ketchum, Sony Music and Facebook, Ryan has spent his entire career in digital marketing and strategy, helping brands, talent and organizations tell resonating stories. In his current role as Head of Catalog Music for YouTube, the Lynx alumnus manages relationships between YouTube and the music industry’s major and independent record labels. During the ceremony held in EPAC, Ryan shared details about his life and career since graduating from Lausanne. He also stopped by Upper School design and media classes to chat and answer questions.
Ryan looks back on his time at Lausanne with great fondness, as the school’s focus on thriving within diversity has remained with him. We are beyond grateful to have Ryan as part of the Lausanne family and cannot wait to see what he accomplishes in the future.
