Cooking with Essential Oils Lavender & Friends Essential oil education + inspiration
Delicious and simple recipes using doTERRA essential oils
Hello! I'm Jill
I'm so glad you've decided to join me in leading a more natural and healthy lifestyle! Since discovering the power and potency of essential oils, I've been amazed by the benefits for myself and my family. I've been able to take a proactive approach towards our health and it's had such a positive impact. I created Lavender & Friends to be a source of essential oil education and inspiration. I'm passionate about empowering people to feel confident using their oils, and to inspire them to embrace using them daily!
What are essential oils? Have you ever peeled an orange and had the scent linger on your fingers? Or taken a deep breath as you walked through a forest and felt calmed by the fresh smell of pine needles? If so then you have already experienced essential oils in action! Essential oils are the pure extracts that are distilled from plants, including their parts such as seeds, leaves, flowers etc. They provide protection for the plants from predators and diseases. Because the essential oil constituents are small and lipid soluble, they can easily and quickly penetrate the skin and provide the regenerative, protective and immune supporting properties of the plant. Certified pure, theraputic grade essential oils provide a safe, effective and affordable way to support your body. You can take control of your health in a natural way. While they don’t replace modern medication, they can provide natural assistance. Using essential oils can help you treat the problem rather than just mask the symptoms. You are encouraged to take a pro-active role in your health.
Why doTERRA? Having had various negative experiences with essential oils over the years, I had written them off as being smelly, gross, and something only weird hippy people used. So when I first experienced doTERRA oils I was blown away by the difference in quality. There are so many reasons to LOVE doterra, here are a just a few: They are the highest quality essential oils available on the market. Plants are grown and harvested in their natural origin. This means they are being grown in the conditions that nature intended them to grow in, not in an artifical environment. The people who farm them have been working with that plant for generations and are experienced in ensuring the plants are properly cared for. Each batch undergoes a series of 6 tests by a 3rd party to ensure purity. The results are publically available- check out the "Source to You" website for more info. There is an amazing Loyalty Rewards Program which means you get rewarded for being a customer. There are so many ways to earn free oils! It's such a cost effective solution. (If you'd like to learn more about how to get your oils for free please let me know) dōTERRA is committed to the ethical treatment of its suppliers by providing on-time payments at fair prices. They work with the local communities to support them. Additionally, the Healing Hands Foundation, dōTERRA’s charitable organization, provides funding and resources to create community-based, social-impact projects to improve lives in the larger communities where oils are sourced. Past projects include building or sponsoring existing medical clinics, installing drinking water and irrigation systems, building schools, and providing other educational resources such as vocational training programs.
How to use oils Aromatically - Take the lids off and inhale - Inhale from the palm of your hands - Use a diffuser (the doTERRA Petal Diffuser is my favourite!) - Diffuser jewellery - Aromatic use can impact mood - Opens airways - Cleanse environment - Diffuse at your bedside to assist sleeping Topically - Apply to the affected area - Apply to the base of your feet - Apply on the back of your neck - Dilute for children - Dilute for sensitive skin
Petal Diffuser
Internally - In a Veggie Cap - With a glass of water - With a teaspoon of honey - Under your tongue Always check the safety label as not all oils are designed to be used internally. One of my favourite ways to use the oils: in my cooking! Please note that I do not suggest using any oil other than a certified pure theraputic grade essential oil in your cooking. I only use doTERRA and I highly suggest that you do the same.
