The Career Resources Office at South Texas College of Law By Teresa Cajot The Career Resource Center (CRC) at South Texas College of Law in Houston provides students and alumni with an array of professional development resources including personalized job search plans, on-and off-campus interviews, resume reviews, and career related publications. These and a number of other resources are available as a result of the hard work and dedication of the CRC’s five staff members.
Ginna Galbraith, the director of the CRC, oversees the office and ensures that premium services are provided to students, graduates, and employers alike. Through her work, Galbraith aims to establish relationships between students and hiring parties such as law firms, corporations, alumni, and government entities within the Houston area and beyond. Prior to joining the CRC, the South Texas College of Law graduate practiced law in Houston for four years and worked as a legal recruiter for one year. Maureen Pecinovsky, a project coordinator and career counselor, earned her law degree from Washburn University School of Law in Kansas. She holds a mass communications degree with concentrations in journalism and public and corporate communications, as well as a minor in political science form Westfield State University. As the CRC’s project coordinator, she is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of the law school’s job fairs and recruiting events. She also provides counseling services to students in the areas of career goal development and marketing and job search skills. Nazleen Faizullah, also a career counselor with the CRC, provides students with goal development, marketing, and job search assistance. She is also involved with a variety of CRC projects and communication efforts. Faizullah graduated from South Texas College of Law in 2008 and holds a degree

in finance and marketing from Texas A&M University. Prior to returning to her alma mater as a staff member, she served as an attorney, concentrating on tax issues and business transactions. Julie Sams, a program coordinator and career counselor within the CRC, is responsible for organizing career development programs on topics such as resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills, networking, mock interviews, dressing for success, and judicial clerkships. Like the other career counselors at South Texas College of Law, Sams works directly with students in the development of career goals, marketing skills, and job search skills. Sams was an attorney for the federal government in Houston before accepting employment with the CRC. She holds a JD, with honors, from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and a BA in Political Science with a minor in Philosophy from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Melissa Reinoza, the career resources coordinator, functions as the contact person for the CRC, handles daily updates, and posts law clerk and attorney job information on the center’s website. Furthermore, she is involved in all of the computerrelated information gathering and record keeping areas of the recruiting programs.
