Carolina Legal Staffing LLC By Teresa Cajot Carolina Legal Staffing LLC is a full-service firm that places attorneys, paralegals, and other legal support personnel in law firms and corporate legal departments throughout North and South Carolina. The firm, which was founded in 1997, offers temporary, temp-tohire, and permanent legal opportunities in all practice areas.
Carolina Legal Staffing’s team consists of seven experienced and knowledgeable individuals who are focused on meeting the staffing needs of both law firms and corporate legal departments. John Lassiter, the firm’s president, has served as an Assistant Attorney General in North Carolina and is currently the President of the Mecklenburg County Bar. He is an at-large member of the Charlotte City Council and also actively works with the Charlotte Chamber. He further serves on the Board of Directors of the Junior Achievement, NC Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, and the Charlotte Regional Partnership. In the past, Lassiter has also served as the Chair of the Corporate Counsel Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. He spent ten years as member of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Board of Education. He holds a JD from Wake Forest University. Ashley Howerton Smith, a recruiting director at the recruiting firm’s Charlotte office, has experience in multi-office lateral recruiting, as well as summer associate programming. Prior to joining Carolina Legal Staffing, she served as the recruiting coordinator and director of lateral hiring at Smith Helms Mulliss & Moore. Greta Hord, also a recruiting director at the firm’s Charlotte location, is primarily focused on the placement of paralegals, secretaries, and assistants. She has experience working with

a national recruiting firm and holds a B.F.A from East Carolina University. Barbara Fleming, another Charlotte recruiting director, has more than 15 years of experience in sales and recruiting. She has worked with administrative staffing firms in both Charlotte and Raleigh. Fleming graduated cum laude from Meredith College with a bachelor’s degree. Julie Clark, a recruiting director in Raleigh, boasts more than ten years of combined marketing and recruiting experience. She formerly worked with a national recruiting firm as a regional sales manager and holds a BS from North Carolina State University. Lisa King, a South Carolina recruiting director, has more than 14 years of experience as a paralegal and a law firm manager. King’s legal career, which began in Pittsburgh with Buchanan Ingersoll, PC, has also included jobs as a program coordinator and mediator. Lauren Tate, also a Charlotte-based recruiting coordinator, is focused on placing paralegals, legal secretaries, and other support positions within small to mid-sized firms. Prior to joining Carolina Legal Staffing, she worked with an international administrative staffing agency. She holds a BA from Appalachian State University.
