David T. Musselman, Clean Harbors By Teresa Cajot Last week Clean Harbors, an environmental, energy, and industrial services company, announced the appointment of David T. Musselman to the role of Senior Vice President and General Counsel.
During his 25 years in the legal field, Musselman has served in several in-house positions and gained extensive experience in the areas of corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory, and other areas of interest to the corporate world. From 2003 until 2011, Musselman held the position of Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of International Power America, Inc., a global power generation company. Prior to that, he served as the Assistant General Counsel of the Commercial and Transactional Services Group at the American Electric Power Company, Inc. From 1989 until 2000, Musselman held the post of Senior Counsel in the Cinergy Corporation’s Regulatory, Environmental, and Corporate Finance Groups. Cinergy is now known as the Duke Energy Corporation. Immediately after law school, he spent three years as an associate at Squire Sanders & Dempsey.
In response to Musselman’s arrival at Clean Harbors, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer said, ‘’David brings extensive experience that will make him a valuable asset to Clean Harbors as we continue to execute our two-pronged strategy of organic growth and acquisitions. Among his accomplishments, David has helped raise more than $4 billion in public and private financings. In addition, he has strong transactional expertise as well and a background in highly regulated industries. David has addressed a wide range legal issues during his career including antitrust, compliance, environmental law, and securities law.’’ Clean Harbors is a Norwell, Massachusetts-headquartered company that serves more than 50,000 customers through its 175 locations. Customers include, but are not limited to, Fortune 500 companies and private entities, as well as federal, state, provincial, and local government agencies. In addition to its North American operations, Clean Harbors also has international operations in Bulgaria, China, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.
Musselman earned his JD from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1986. In 2001, he graduated from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business with a MBA. His undergraduate studies were completed at Albion College.
