Law School Profile

Mario Treto, Indiana University Maurer School of Law By Teresa Cajot Mario Treto has a strong appreciation for academic work and life experiences, which has paved the path for success in his law school career at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. Treto, who is on track to graduate from the law school in 2012, credits his post-college work experience with teaching him the work and time management skills necessary to deal with the heavy coursework required of a law school student.

In 2007, Treto graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with an AB in Biology and Psychology and immediately entered the work force as an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Washington University. According to Treto, working for two years prior to entering law school allowed him to enjoy a break from studying while also building other crucial skills. While working in the Office of Admissions, Treto visited high school students around the nation to discuss their college options. While in his office at the university, he had the opportunity to present information about the school to visitors, examine student applications, and contribute to decisions that would impact future alumni of his alma mater. According to Treto, the time spent in the Admissions Office allowed him to gain a better understanding of how his legal studies would be applied to a work setting in the future.

He has been involved in student groups with both legal and nonlegal focuses, thus establishing new relationships and taking advantage of networking opportunities. He has served at the president of the Latino Law Student Association and has also been involved with the Federal Communications Law Journal, Moot Court, the Protective Order Project, the Intellectual Property Association, the Hispanic Bar Association, and the Health Law Society.
