Rosner & Rosner Young Lawyers Professionalism Award By Teresa Cajot Keith Swisher, of the Phoenix School of Law, has been presented with the Rosner & Rosner Young Lawyers Professionalism Award. The national award, which is proffered by the Center for Professional Responsibility, honors a young attorney who has demonstrated dedication to legal and judicial integrity, professionalism, client care, and professional regulation.

Swisher, who is the Associate Dean of Faculty Development and an Assistant Professor at Phoenix School of Law, has established an impressive record of service within the legal community. His contributions include teaching, pro bono defense, panelist, and speaker. He is a member of the Arizona Committee on the Rules of Professional Conduct, the State Bar of Arizona Professionalism Committee, and the Ninth Circuit Criminal Justice Act Panel serving indigent defendants on appeal. He has served on the editorial boards of the Arizona Attorney and the ABA/BNA Lawyers Manual on Professional Conduct, since 2005 and 2008 respectively. Swisher has been with the Phoenix School of Law since 2009 and currently teaches Professional Responsibility and Torts. Before joining PhoenixLaw, he served as an adjunct professor at Arizona State University College of Law, where he taught Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility. Additionally, since 2005, he practiced law with Osborn Maledon in the Phoenix area. During his time with the firm, he specialized in criminal defense, legal and judicial ethics, professional liability, and appeals. Prior to that, he served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable William C. Canby of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

During law school, Swisher was involved with the Unites States Attorney’s Office, Criminal Division; the Arizona Justice Project: and the Office of the Federal Public Defender, Capital Habeas Unit. Additionally, he was the editor of the Arizona State Law Journal. Swisher graduated Order of the Coif and first in class from Arizona State University College of Law. He also holds a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School. ‘’Professor Swisher epitomizes professionalism and ethics in legal education, as well as the entire legal community. This is a tremendous honor for Keith, and I speak for the students, faculty and staff when I say how proud we are of him,’’ said Shirley L. Mays, Dean of Phoenix Law. The Rosner & Rosner Young Lawyers Professionalism Award was presented in August at the NABE/NCBP/NCBF Annual Awards Luncheon in Toronto. The award and fund were established by Seth Rosner in honor of his partners and family members, Oscar S. Rosner and Jonathon L. Rosner. The award selection committee includes representatives from the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility and the ABA Young Lawyers Division. The recipient is granted a lifetime membership to the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility and is also given a free one-year subscription to the webbased ABA/BNA Lawyers Manual on Professional Conduct.
