The firm’s origins date back to the 1864 founding of the firm Hitchcock & Dupree. Many of the firm’s current banking and industrial clients have relied on the firm’s sound advice since the 1870s and 1880s. However, the firm’s current name was not taken on until 2004. Today the firm’s largest practice area is litigation with a concentration on complex toxic tort, insurance class actions, and reinsurance disputes. Schiff Hardin is also devoted to promoting women in the legal field.
