The CPD Staff at Seattle University School of Law By Teresa Cajot The Center for Professional Development (CPD) staff at the Seattle University School of Law brings a wealth of experience in business, law, and public relations to the students and alumni of the law school.

Shawn Lipton, the Assistant Dean of the CPD, initially joined the law school as the Director of Continuing Legal Education. Immediately prior to taking on his current position, he served as the interim Director of the CPD. Before joining the Seattle University School of Law, he was a business development manager in the dotcom world. The University of Connecticut School of Law graduate also worked and studied in Taiwan and speaks both Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

Director for the Alaskan office of a political and public relations consulting firm. During the last presidential run, she served as Deputy Counsel to the Hillary Clinton for President Campaign and before that she was an agency counsel for the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Environmental Protection Agency, Region 10. Ross completed her undergraduate studies at Macalester College and earned her JD from Vanderbilt University Law School.

Immediately before joining the CPD as the Director, Stacey Lara spent five years as a public defender at The Defender Association in Seattle, Washington. In this position she was involved in criminal, dependency, and Becca Bill litigation. Before earning her JD at the University of Washington School of Law, Lara worked in Korea as an English teacher and also for a Washington firm as a paralegal.

The office’s Associate Director for Employer Relations, Bahareh Samanian served as a Federal Employers’ Liability Act, employment, and personal injury, litigator from 2002 until 2011. She regularly donates her time to the King County Bar Association’s Neighborhood Legal Clinic, which serves those who could not otherwise afford legal assistance. She has interned with the Office of the Corporation Counsel in Washington, DC and the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project. Samanian holds a JD from Seattle University School of Law and is fluent in Farsi.

The CPD’s Associate Director, Erin Fullner, has worked in private practice and in the public sector, where she has handled criminal and civil practice. She holds a JD from the University of Oregon School of Law. Anna Dudek Ross, also an Associate Director, came to the CPD after working as a staff attorney with the Alaska Immigration Justice Project. She also held the position of Managing

Emily von Steele has served as the center’s Program Assistant since 2007.The Illinois-native has a BA in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
