Chapter-2 Method of the Work 2.1. Introduction to the project: Sport has an important role in today’s world. It is important to an individual, a group, a university, a nation and indeed the world. Throughout the world sport has a popular attraction among people of all ages and gender. It is being considered as an important factor for the enhancement of image for a country. Nowadays, lots of investment, research work and extensive media coverage of sports all over the world indicate its significance in the modern world. Sports are one of the sectors of AIUB’s activity which has a vast contribution to ensure the overall efficiency of students. Classroom only concentrate about the study oriented matter, while sports make a students strong physically as well as mentally. As a result in the future time they can successfully face any problem. Office of sports of AIUB is very active. Every semester office of sports organizes various types of indoor and outdoor sports, which is very much helpful for the student’s physical and mental development. Along with education sports emphasis on discipline as well as punctuation. Regular sports activity has long been regarded as an important component of a healthy lifestyle. Recently, this impression has been reinforced by new scientific evidence linking regular sports activity to a wide array of physical and mental health benefits. This report is representing the present situation of office of sports department of this institution and the step that has taken by this institution. This report also will introduce the viewer with the necessity of sports in an educational institute. 2.2. Statement of the Problem: In AIUB students get a lot of free time after completing their class and that time they can use that time by sporting activity or any other extra curricular activities. But the problem is that in AIUB around six thousand students study now and AIUB does not have enough play ground or space for

student’s sports activity. Many students also abuse their time by gossiping and other activities which are not useful. Most of the students are not concern about their physical fitness and mental development by engaging in sports they can get huge amount of benefit, but they don’t regularly participate in sports activity for some reason. The reason are actually not enough conscious about effective use of time and lack of knowledge about the necessity of sports to keep the physical fitness and mental growth of human being. 2.3. Rationale of the Study: The purposes of the report will cognate the internship purposes. The report objective is to determine the Contribution of AIUB’S office of sports towards the physical and mental development at AIUB. The motive of the report is actually reflecting the importance of sports .the effectiveness of sports and essentiality also. Moreover it also focuses on the thing through which sports department can be more efficient and effective. The report consist of the information, knowledge as well experience gathered by doing work in this department. 2.4. Objective 2.4.1 Broad Objective: in the direction of “Contribution of AIUB’s office of sports towards

the

physical and mental development of students at AIUB”. 2.4.2. Specific Objective: •

Finding sports culture in AIUB

How sports keep an AIUB student’s physical fitness.

2.5. Scope: The report will overview the sports department of the organization .why the sports department is necessary, what is the logic behind that .the report discuss about the effectiveness of sports for the student ,the report also represents the present prospects of this department, lacking and steps that will make the sports department more strong and efficient. 2.6. Limitations: Since the report has to be made within a very short time, so it is a major constraint in accumulating all sorts of information in an organized way. Due to time limitation many aspects could not be discussed in the present study. Another important issue is that unavailability of information. To

collect all the necessary information is a critical and time consuming task. Furthermore survey is also a part which required time and most of the time getting true comments is not possible. Though after all these limitation I tried my best to make the report through maintain a standard level. 2.7. Methodology: Methodology is an important requirement of a report whereas it helps to prepare a good report. When I started my report then confused about which methods of research is appropriate for my topic. I know that three types of research methods. 1) Exploratory research. 2) Descriptive research. 3) Casual research. Here I chose exploratory research for conducting my research. Which is actually conducted the initial stage of any research? The preliminary activities undertaken to refine the problem. Again the exploratory research is two types. 1) Qualitative research & 2) Quantitative research.

In qualitative research there is small number of respondent and question pattern is unstructured. On the other hand there is an opportunity to take large number of respondent in quantitative research and by doing a structured questioner I can interview many people. As the number of student is higher so to find out the true picture I have chosen quantitative research rather than qualitative research. Quantitative methods are research techniques that are used to gather quantitative data information dealing with numbers and anything that is measurable. For the purpose of the study, data and other relative information have been collected from both the primary and secondary sources. I have taken both sources to get more broad but accurate information. The method which I used has some specific step what I have mentioned later on. I did survey and sampling randomly so that I can get all the information in a structured as well as useful form. Which give a standard shape of the report. 2.8. Sources of information:

The source of information mainly two types to collects the information for preparing a report. 2.8.1 Primary source: Primary sources of information are collected through interview, observation etc.I have interviewed students of the AIUB as well as some official also. I selected most of the student, who are related or take part in sports activity. By asking question to the student I got an overall idea about the subject. The information collected through observation gives mostly the true scenario. 1.8.2. Secondary source: The secondary data will be collected through brochure, magazine, journal, newspaper and website of the organization. Basically the information by secondary sources is in a specific format and it reflects what actually the organization wants. 2.9. Designing Questionnaire. Questioner is major factors to do a quantitative survey, the questionnaire of my report consist of structure question. I made the questionnaire in a a way that give useful information and it also provide the option to the viewer to give their opinion. 2.10. Research approach: My research approach will be survey type. Since I am working as an Student Assistant at American International University- Bangladesh. I will personally observe the sports activities and also ask questions to the employee and students. 2.11. Sampling plan: My plan of sampling is taking students from all departments and both type of students who takes part in sports activity and who does not also. 2.12. Sample unit: I have selected students from each department for my sample unit. I have chosen five different units. Each unit consists of same department’s student. one special unit only by employee of the organization. I made sample unit base on different department to know the approach of every type of people.

2.13. Sample size: The size of each group or unit is same. The number of member of an individual unit is twenty. The total number of sample is one hundred. All of the member are related with AIUB. I think the one people will represent the opinion of whole the organization. 2.14. Sampling procedure: The sampling procedure is randomly selected among the students of American International University –Bangladesh. 2.15. Contact method Face-to-face interview is my contact method to do my report. 2.16. Activity schedule: Activity schedule: The duration of the Project is fourteen (14) weeks. Activity/ Duration

Chapter: 5.0

5.1. Findings: After doing all the survey work and analyzing the answerer of question I found many positive sites of sports as well as sports department and also some lacking of sports department also. The position of the sports department is pretty clear by this report. According to the opinion of students sports department need to provide more sports facility every semester. Some importance thing that comes from analyzing the question is the effectiveness of sports towards the AIUB. By survey on some specific number student, I got a total overview of all the students’ attitude towards sports. Most portion of the total student takes part in sports in different way with some common logic. Such as students think sports help them to refreshment their life through providing entertainment. Furthermore students also support that sports has huge contribution to develop their physical fitness and become healthy and active by participating different types of sports. I have also found that sports activity also has impact on the mental growth of students. Except few some students all of the students are very willing to do sports because with physical fitness and mental effect, it has some other contribution like recognition through the sports, entertainment, collaborative relationship other department students. From the questionnaire survey I also found that along with other sports activity gym also has contribution to the student. I have also observed the sports department at AIUB and the way in which sports create a specific image of this institution. AIUB has a very good reputation about sports and among all the private university AIUB is the best for their excellent sports facility. Here I also mention that the students of this university highly satisfied with the sports facility, and students also believe that to become very efficiency in every work need both education and sports.

5.2. Recommendation After studying all part of the report I have found some lacking, which also mentioned by respondents. To fill up these lacking and solve the problem that are existing now, I have found some way.

Every semester more tournaments should be organized, so that student can participate in more sports activity and improve their physical and mental growth.

AIUB should manage own play ground, because play ground is very much important for any University to provide the independency to student to play games any time.

In every campus there should be provide indoor sports facilities to the students, like Tabletennis, Carom, Chess, pool, Ludo etc so they can enjoy their free time through play different type of games.

The number of student at AIUB are around six thousands, so the gymnasium size should be more wide and also need to install more equipment, so that every student can get the opportunity to do gym.

Many students spend their time by gossiping, we should motivate them to spend their time through doing sports.

Most of the student doesn’t know the effective way of doing sports that will have more effect on physical fitness. So we should provide an instructor for them.

Many students come university and after the class just go to home not interact with other students, that is why they are not mentally growing in a proper way. This kind of students should participate sports activity, because when they play games that time easy to interact with other students and that help lot to students mental growth.

Those who are very good in sports to encourage them for participating in more sports activity and AIUB should provide them more scholarship.

AIUB should provide the facility for the girls to participate sports.

AIUB should hire permanent coach for sports activity.

5.3. Conclusion

Sports play very important role for any educational institution. University or any other educational institute necessitates sports because it not only helps physical and mental development but also it provides huge entertainment. Overall sports are a factor that every person likes to enjoy through different way, like directly participating or watching. By doing this report I have found that the sports department of AIUB always contributes to the student’s physical and mental development by providing different sports facility. Again sports also help the student to refresh their mind after studying. However every educational institution has sports department. But not all sports department is effective. To make a sports department effective I have given some suggestion in the recommendation part. By implying these the sports department can be more effective and will be able to contribute more towards the student’s mental growth and physical fitness.
