Laying the tiles on the diagonal echoes the diamond pattern of the home’s parquet floor. “Like any natural wood product, it needs to be refinished every year or so to prevent cracking,” DiClerico says.

An automated shade by Lutron (lutron.com) tempers the intense light and heat that the NanaWall’s southern exposure receives during the day. “The shade goes up and down with the flick of a switch,” DiClerico says.

Put a pass-through window above your sink.

If you can’t go all out with an accordion door, even just one window in the kitchen will help bestow a homey glow.

DiClerico added a stylish yet low-maintenance Caesarstone countertop in London Grey quartz. Warm, soapy water or a nonabrasive cleaner like GH favorite Soft Scrub With Bleach Cleaner Gel can easily handle any spills or stains.

“The NanaWall is great for entertaining,” DiClerico says. The folding doors and windows can be fully opened in mere seconds to welcome company. “The terrace becomes a true extension of the kitchen, with guests moving easily between the spaces,” he adds.
