Each year brings its own features and its own milestones. For 2014, the focus will be on recognising, celebrating and commemorating women who have not only made seminal contributions to enriching our lives here in the United Kingdom; but more importantly challenged the orthodoxy of beauty pageants and truly represented the true diversity of womanhood in the UK. We acknowledge that a revolution is taking place in the beauty and fashion industry. The current orthodoxy that beauty is defined and prescribed by a pre-determined size and height is being aggressively challenged. A more holistic and inclusive framework for judging the aesthetic of what is beautiful is being promoted. We fully embrace this trend. In 2014, Carivog International celebrate women in their diversity, in the genuine multi-cultural and multi-racial landscape of Trinidad and Tobago. In that landscape, the criteria for excellence are clearly defined. The chosen individual to represent the pinnacle of excellence and to be accorded the title of Queen need to be “one with the whole”; the whole being physical beauty, personality, self-worth, knowledge and a personal vision and sense of worth. This wholeness is found in the individual who accepts the differences in others, learns to interact positively with others and continually strives to improve. Tonight’s event is the first opportunity for displaying this new approach. The Miss Trinidad

and Tobago UK is in its 12th year and among the changes and milestones tonight is the new title, Trinidad and Tobago UK Queen. This change is being implemented at a time when our financial challenges have been intensely foreboding but it did not deter us. We took up the challenge and with faith and prayer, we saw the year through. The challenges only made us stronger, for it helped us to stretch our resourcefulness and improve our performances. For those who completed the journey with us, we say: “Congratulations, for you displayed the attributes of winners that Trinidad & Tobago can be proud off”. On behalf of Carivog International and the Miss Trinidad and Tobago UK Committee we extend our thanks and gratitude to those who have contributed financially and in kind. To the 2014 delegates we wish you a memorable experience and good luck in all future endeavours. Together we aspire, Together we Achieve. We are women of Excellence. God Bless Our Nation

Having won Miss Trinidad and Tobago UK in September, 2013, My reign has been absolutely incredible and I’m extremely grateful for being given this opportunity. I’ve been able to experience some unforgettable moments whilst still being able to go on to fully promote Trinidad and Tobago to the best of my ability. Using this opportunity and the platform that I have I wish to encourage young girls to be more confident in all aspects of their lives in order to achieve their goals and ambitions.

Cascadia Hotel Trinidad , the Tobago House of Assembly. I had an excellent trip home and was able to visit some of the most beautiful places I hadn’t seen before even whilst living in Trinidad as a child. That experience in itself was lifechanging for me. The reception I received as queen from not only my Trinbagonian community but many others has been truly humbling over the past year and it is something I’ll carry with me and cherish for the rest of my life.
