Representative Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici is referred to as a “double duck,” having earned both a bachelor’s degree (journalism, 1980) and J.D. (1983) from the University of Oregon. Following her graduation from Oregon Law, Bonamici was an attorney for the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C., where she was in the Credit Practices Division of the Bureau of Consumer Protection. She and her husband, Michael H. Simon, moved to the Portland area in 1986. She was in private practice from 1986 to 1989. In 2007, Bonamici was elected to the Oregon House of Representatives. In 2008, she was appointed and then elected to the Oregon Senate and in 2011 she became assistant majority leader. Bonamici was sworn in as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives on Feb. 7, 2012, and elected for a full term in November of that year. The 1st Congressional District of Oregon, which she represents, comprises the Northwest portion of the state. She serves on the House Education & the Workforce Committee and the House Science, Space and Technology Committee, where she is a ranking member on the subcommittee on the environment.

She has pushed for media ownership rules that reflect the demographics of America, affordable universal telephone and high-speed internet access, greater broadband deployment and adoption throughout the nation and transparency in regulation. Commissioner Clyburn is a member of the Federal-State Joint Board on Universal Service, Federal-State Joint Board on Separations and the Federal-State Joint Conference on Advanced Services, all of which she chaired for three years during her first term at the FCC. Representative Michael Grimm (R-NY) Michael Grimm’s service to our nation began at the age of 19, when he left college after his freshman year and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After serving in the Persian Gulf War and being awarded a Combat Meritorious Promotion, Michael returned reserve status and continued his education.

to investigate the Gambino Crime Family in the prestigious Organized Crime Branch, Michael found his niche fighting corruption on Wall Street as a member of the Financial Fraud Squad. During his service in the FBI, Michael attended New York Law School at night. Special Agent Grimm was then admitted to practice law in New York and Connecticut. It was during his tenure with the Fraud Squad that Michael started his undercover career, becoming the first FBI Agent to successfully infiltrate Wall Street. Posing as a hedge fund manager during Operation Wooden Nickel, arguably one of the most successful White Collar undercover investigations in the history of the FBI, Michael obtained evidence against more than 50 individuals committing frauds spanning the spectrum from stock manipulation and currency scams to money laundering. After establishing a reputation as a reliable, “go-to” undercover agent, Michael was enlisted to investigate corrupt politicians in New Jersey, corrupt police officers in Florida, and various other cases. Michael has relentlessly fought corruption and served our country proudly. After approximately 11 years as a Special Agent and more than five years serving as a deep Undercover Agent, Michael decided to leave the FBI to further expand his experience and became an entrepreneur. Michael founded a small health food restaurant in Manhattan and was a principal in a bio-fuel company.

Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC)

While attending college full time during the day, Michael went to work as a clerk for the FBI on the midnight shift. Michael was chosen to attend the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center where he completed the Federal Police Officer Training Program. Upon returning from training, Michael was deputized as a U.S. Marshal and entrusted with full arrest authority as a Uniformed Police Officer for the FBI.

Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, now in her thirteenth term as the Congresswoman for the District of Columbia, is the ranking member of the House Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management. She serves on two committees: the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

With a desire to diversify his background, Michael left the FBI for a Research Analyst position on Wall Street, attaining several securities industry licenses. During this period, Michael attended Bernard M. Baruch College at night to further his education. Upon graduating with his BBA in Accountancy with a concentration in Finance, Grimm felt the pull of public service and returned to the FBI where he was appointed a Special Agent and assigned to the New York Office. Although he was assigned

Congresswoman Norton’s accomplishments in breaking barriers for her disempowered district are matched by her success in bringing home unique economic benefits to her constituents. Among them are senatorial courtesy to recommend federal judges, the U.S. Attorney, and other significant federal law enforcement positions for the District; up to $10,000 per year for all D.C. high school graduates to attend any public U.S. college or university and up to $2,500 per year to many

private colleges and universities; a unique $5,000 D.C. homebuyer tax credit, which has sharply increased home ownership in the District and has been a major factor in stabilizing the city’s population; and D.C. business tax incentives. Congresswoman Norton has brought significant economic development to the District of Columbia throughout her service in Congress, creating and preserving jobs in D.C. The most significant are her work in bringing to D.C. the U.S. Department of Homeland Security headquarters compound, now under construction, and is the largest federal construction project in the country; and her bill for private development of the 55 acre-Southeast Federal Center, the first private development on federal land. The Congresswoman is a third-generation Washingtonian, and is the mother of John Holmes Norton and Katherine Felicia Norton.
