Arbitration Experience, Expertise and International Reach

Arbitration

Arbitration is an increasingly popular alternative to traditional litigation.

We offer arbitration as a form of private dispute resolution, where the parties appoint an arbitrator, or a panel of arbitrators to determine their disputes.

Awards are binding and unlike court judgments are enforceable in 168 different states.

Why use Arbitration?

At Laytons, we pride ourselves on delivering the highest level of arbitration services and finding the most effective means of achieving a favourable outcome.

Our experienced arbitration lawyers have specialised knowledge to handle complex cases, ensuring informed decisions that align with industry standards.

Some of the advantages of arbitration over court proceedings are:

 The ability to choose a neutral jurisdiction

 The ability to appoint suitably qualified and experienced arbitrators

 Confidentiality

 Often quicker than using courts

 Limited options for appeal

 Enforcement. Under the New York Convention 1958 means that an arbitral award may be enforced in any of the 168 signatory states.

Arbitration is generally used in commercial and investment disputes, particularly where the parties are in different countries. With our extensive experience, we have successfully represented clients from many different countries in a wide range of sectors including contractual disputes, distributorship agreements, shipping and freight forwarding, commodities engineering, construction, mining and investments.

We put together the most suitable team for your case, based on the nature of the case, the jurisdiction, and our lawyers’ skills and past experience.

We routinely accept instructions under the rules of the main arbitral institutions worldwide such as ICC, LCIA, SIAC, and others, as well as acting in ad hoc arbitrations. We do so in many different jurisdictions.

Using technology, we aim to deliver our services as cost-effectively and with as little environmental impact as possible1
