Plovdiv, May 20th 2017 Architect Lyubomir Dragomirov started working for our studio already during the summers throughout his student years as an intern and from 2014 to 2017 he worked as an architect and the last of those years as a leading architect. During those first summer periods he worked mainly on façade development, 3D modelling and visualisations and since then he has gradually developed into an integral part of the design team taking part in the whole spectre that our profession encompasses – from idea to detail and presentation. Further on he did project-leading work on different project aspects such as thorough research and analysis leading to concept development further translating that into an actual design and afterwards performing on-site supervision. During the last year he practised as a leading architect on some of the projects. From the very beginning he has shown dedication and enthusiasm for the profession and has since developed his own way of work and approach. All that he combines with great responsibility towards projects, clients and colleagues. He has very good communication skills demonstrating them in the conversations with clients as well as with contractors at the site where he manages to successfully combine a diplomatic approach together with firmly defending the professional ideas and the goals of the project. Throughout our work together he has always presented himself to be an analytical, thorough person and has always set high standards for his own work and that of the people around him. He performs great in a team and helps to create a pleasant atmosphere and high morale in the working place. He is hard working and can always be relied upon in the crucial and critical moments. Lyubomir Dragomirov is a talented young architect whose work is on a high professional level and gradually he has transformed from an important support to the team to one of the main designers in our office. He is developing quickly within the profession and during our last project – residential complex TEД – he showed he can lead different aspects of the project with excellent results. Working with him has been a great pleasure and it evolved in a process of mutual improvement and a very fruitful cooperation. I give Lyubomir Dragomirov my most enthusiastic recommendation and believe he will be great addition to any office he wishes to work for.

I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Ljubo Dragomirov.
New York, April 10th. 2017
Lyubomir Dragomirov has worked as architect at our office from April 2013 to May 2014. During that time, he worked very hard and always with positive attitude. He very soon gained my full trust, successfully leading the design, the negotiation and the construction of a number of international commissions including Communal Meeting Place for Masdar in Abu Dhabi, Ojalá Club, ARCO Madrid Contemporary Art Fair 2014 or Chocotalks. He had also worked in the development of Weizmann Square in Holon competition (Winning Entry), and Kai Tak Fantasy contest in Hong Kong. He also worked on the development of ‘Different Kinds of Water Pouring into a Swimming Pool’ exhibition at REDCAT, the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Center in Los Angeles in 2014. I want to emphasize his technical skills, his excellent attitude, his skills for team working and his imagination, motivation and responsibility. He is able to develop different projects and deal with them from different perspectives and always optimistically. It is with complete faith that I give Lyubomir Dragomirov a strong vote of confidence and the highest recommendation. If you need further information regarding this reference, it will be my pleasure to attend you. Best regards,

Complex TEД Architect at Arch. Studio Marta Teodosieva
Being quite a big residential complex with a total area of 27840m2 (18050m2 apartments, 825m2 commercial, 7600m2 parking, 1365m2 green areas) the client required it to be a gated community. We decided that from an urban and social point of view the best would be to organize the edifice along the perimeter of the plot and have the common area naturally ‘gated’ by the structure, creating a green heart in the middle. To introduce a more humanly scale to this enormous building it is divided in four blocks with gaps in between for more natural light and longer view lines and those four are only connected on the ground floor. Further every block is horizontally layered and vertically structured by deep-set second and last floors and through HPL frames. The 177 apartments vary from studios to three bedroom flats with spacious living areas that have ample outside spaces as their natural extensions. The cost of the construction is kept low by having a simple and clear structure and choosing for inexpensive materials. The richness of the façade is achieved by introducing relief in the surfaces and diversifying the colors as well as adding frames from HPL which also serve a very practical purpose of covering the drainpipes and the air conditioners.

Janet Architect at Arch. Studio Marta Teodosieva
This project has as a goal to honour the heritage from the past and to interweave it with the new. On a corner plot where and old house with beautiful façade decoration stands must come a new mixed use building. As the old house fills a small part of the plot’s footprint and volume a number of steps are takenso that it receives the stature it deserves. The house’s presence is horizontally and vertically reinforced by introducing echoes of its characteristic features. In that way, on the one hand it respects the height level of the surrounding buildings from the same age and on the other it addresses the proportion imbalance between the old building and its new addition. Further above that level the rest of the structure is set back to give even more importance to the old house but also to create an upper ‘street’ level, a public space filled with green, at the disposal of the building’s inhabitants.

Porto Lagos Architect at Arch. Studio Marta Teodosieva
With a total area of 2150m2 (1550m2 apartments and 600m2 garages and storage) this six storeys high residential building houses 15 apartments and garages. All the flats have two bedrooms and spacious living areas where the emphasis is on allowing as much light inside as possible by having one of the long sides towards the façade. The façade is designed in such a way so that the visual weight of the building is diminished greatly by dividing it in four horizontal layers which also introduces the human scale in the experience of the building. The materials used are not expensive – plaster, glass and composite panels but its richness is achieved through adding relief, and diversifying the colours and textures of the plaster. Apart from enhancing the horizontal layering the composite panels, which form frames around the façade, introduce vertical structure and furthermore they serve a very practical purpose of covering the drainpipes and the air conditioners.

Trade Centre Lexy Junior architect at Arch. Studio Marta Teodosieva
Trade Centre Lexy is a commercial building on three levels. The functions housed by the building are commercial, café and offices and are all organized around the interior atrium-like space. The atrium gives the possibility of visual contact between all of them and through its skylights it allows daylight to enter the entire commercial part. The energy efficiency of the building is improved by its orientation – it is closed to the north and east and is open maximally to the south. Energy-saving windows are used for the south façade and high level of insulation for the closed volumes. The skylights, the strips by the travelators and the openness of the big commercial volume to the café and the entry hall ensure that there is indirect daylight lowering significantly expenditures for lighting.

Villa CK Architect at Arch. Studio Marta Teodosieva
Situated in the picturesque Rhodopes mountains next to the Batak dam the villa is the summer getaway place for a family of four. Its design following the traditional style of the villas in the area having a gabled roof with a dormer window and using materials characteristic for the place such as wood and stone. The house receives a modern twist by making the living area two storeys high and very open to the outside veranda this way connecting it to the surrounding nature. The hearth plays a prominent role in the organisation of the plan as it is the central element around which everything is organized. On the ground floor this luxurious house has the spacious living area, the master bedroom and a hot tub with a French window towards the greenery outside. On the second floor are two more bedrooms with an emporium overlooking the living area and the hearth and on the underground level are the installation room, ta storage, laundry and fitness space.

Villa K Junior architect at Arch. Studio Marta Teodosieva
This luxurious villa is situated in the picturesque village of Kuklen. On the first floor there are the diurnal area and the master bedroom. Apart from the living room and kitchen the diurnal area consists of a veranda with a summer kitchen and a BBQ, a sport zone with a sauna and a hot tub and a hobby room on the souterrain level. On the second floor there are two bedrooms with a separate bathroom each. The building is positioned in the north-west corner of the plot with the main rooms having a favorable south exposure but also, through a gradual displacement of the volumes of the house, each of them has at least some part of their faรงade facing the beautiful east slope of the Rhodope Mountains. A folding door allows the living room to open directly to the veranda and the yard with its wooden deck and infinity swimming pool. The pool is 12m by 3m and the wooden deck covers the perimeter overflow to allow for an unperturbed experience of the surrounding nature.

This is a six storeys high building with approximately 1000m2 useful floor area and as uses it has commercial use on the ground floor, oďŹƒces on the first floor and residential use for the rest of the floors. My involvement in this project was focused on its spatial organization, facade design, detailing, visualizations and presentations. Driving topics for this project were on the one hand to create apartments with a lot of sunlight where the living rooms are positioned in the corners of the building and have the best views as well. On the other hand as far as the facade is concerned it was strived to blend it with the surrounding new construction. Further an important goal was to keep the design clean from any secondary additions and objects such as air conditioners. To prevent them from obliterating the facade their position was taken into consideration from a very early stage and was hidden behind wooden screens and steel meshes in such a way so that the appearance was enhanced.

This project, purchased by an Abu Dhabi Sheikh is based on an award-winning design made by the oďŹƒce for Matadero Madrid. The Abu Dhabi version is an upgrade in quality functionality and sustainability. The project is a great example of use tranformation as at the base of the design sits an irrigation pivot that has been given a makeover and equipped with an audiovisual system, a state of the art misting climate control system, suspended gardens that serve as decoration, counteweights and climate stabalizer devices, and BIPV solar component that allow for the whole structre to support itself.

Andrés Jaque Architects (project coordinator)
The main project objectives for the design of ARCO Madrid art fair of 2014 were the general organization of the fair, the design of the ARCO’s own spaces and the design of the graphics. The most important principles for the general organization are the division between galleries and non-galleries, the ’wallpapering’ of the pavilion with galleries so that the fair becomes its own world, the fostering of the feeling of a one whole space of the fair even though it is housed by two different pavillions. Although the non-galleries area is positioned at the opposite end to the entrances it still had be an attractive place for the visitors. To achive that we developed a porous separation walls that are elegant, inviting and integrating the spaces behind to the whole of the fair. The integrated approach that we followed, designing on the big scale but also going into the minute detail, allowed for a design that was a great success and was acclaimed by organiser, gallerists, visitors and press.

Interior images of “invernadero” This project consists of the refurbishment of a popular bar/restaurant in the center of Madrid. The design revolves around giving a very specific character to each space of the restaurant in which way it will make it totally unique compared to any other bar in the city. The main spaces are the “invernadero”, a semi open (smoking) are that attracts the attention with its spectacular glass wall and hanging garden lamps. Afterwards are the Bar Hall with its open set upthat blurs the division between staff and visitors, the Ping Pong Hall with its separable ping pong table, the stand and the spectacular wall lighting. On the lower floor is located the Beach Hall with specifically designed low furniture and lighting with the idea of enhancing the relaxed, informal feeling of the beach. Another interesting space on this floor is the bathroom with its undulating ceiling and the constantly repeating Beach Boys albums.

Serlachius Museum, GĂśsta Extension MAKS internship (competition)
The new GĂśsta extension is a 4700m2 of galleries, oďŹƒces and service area. To reduce the impact on the landscape the main building areas concentrate around the existing manor and its plaza. Then to avoid visual competition with the existing manor building, the added building mass is dissolved and distributed into a free gathering of volumes and voids which is open to all sides to nature. To guarantee the functionality of the museum the separate volumes will be connected by a sunken courtyard; a forum, which is to form the new heart of the museum. The new volumes blend in with the surroundings by organization and materiality. The pavilions each contain a central zone with a more transparent area wrapped around: the outer one being more free and soft, the inner more functional and opaque. The proposed extension has a reduced exterior facade area and thus reduces heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer. Natural daylighting is much used throughout the building, natural ventilation as well and heating and hot water will be supplied by a biomass burner and boiler system.

UN Environment Council, NYC TU Delft (graduation project)
The UN Environment Council is located at the existing UN plot in Manhattan. The concept developed for the UN location is called Urban Forest, sunken park which breaks with the urban fabric of Manhattan. The Urban Forest counters sustainability issues of NYC such as noise overload, urban heat island effect, air pollution, it lowers stress levels and benefits health and mood. The visitors/users flows in the building can be divided into general public, office employees and delegates and those determine the building division in 3 main parts so that there is no interference between flows: Public Plaza, delegates zone and office zone. The Public Plaza promotes the integration between park and building and strives for flexibility. Conceptually it must be the meeting point between park, office, public and delegates zones where the roof is the element which brings all together. The building has a goal to promote sustainability by using water for heating and cooling, hybrid ventilation, a lot of daylight, external shading and having green zone spread around it.
