Client -The client is a 26 year old single male. He is a working professional but he also loves to entertain in his left. He is a brain cancer survivor who donates to the Kelly Heinz Brain Tumor Foundation.
Retail - Bad Hair Day is a privately owned wig salon. Half of their proceeds are donated to the Kelly Heinz Brain Tumor Foundation. They focus on making wig buying as comfortable as possible.
Non-Profit Organization -The Kelly Heinz Brain Tumor Foundation focuses on the emotional, psychological and spiritual damage done to cancer patients and their loved ones. The foundation works to provide support, and stability while going through and after cancer experience. They also focus on prevention, and awareness.
Cafe -A Bump In The Road is a cafe which caters to cancer patients and their unique nutritional needs. Patients enduring chemotherapy and radiation are asked to stay away from certain foods, while eating higher levels of others. Proper nutrition during this process is critical to the patients recovery.
The entire floor has a ‘galley’ feeling to it. By leaving main hallway spaces open it gives a chance to step back and see the architectural elements encroaching intothe space. It also gives the lighting design room to shine. The lighting is used throughout the space by bouncing off one surface and spilling over onto the other. This provides ample lighting throughout the space.

The lighting throughout the space is designed to be ‘invisible. I chose to use low voltage lamps in a higher quantity of fixtures in order to create a calm feeling throughout the space. LED strips line the top edge of the low canopy. Recessed Lights are used in the retail and residential spaces. Drop down canned lights are used in the cafe area. Accent Lights are provided by using LED strip lighting and sconces throughout the entire space.
