France has many traditions for their Christmas celebration. One of their traditions is for the husband and wife to do a puppet show for the kids. The Muppets came and performed at a coliseum in France once before. In France, they also celebrate by going to a Christmas midnight mass. The mass is where melodies are sung in the crowd and presents are given to grown-ups.
Beef Burgundy stew 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

minutes 1 teaspoon dried thyme 1 teaspoon dried rosemary 10 black peppercorns 3 whole cloves 1 allspice berries 1 dried bay leaf 3 pounds beef chuck, cut into 2-inch chunks 1/2 pound bacon, cut into thick slices, and then coarsely chopped 2 tablespoons plus 1 tablespoon softened butter 1 tablespoon tomato paste 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 pound pearl onions, peeled 1 pound white mushrooms, wiped clean and bottoms trimmed 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper Directions: Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and pepper. Add beef in batches and brown thoroughly. Put beef into a soup pot with wine, beef base, consomme, onion, celery, parsley, basil, bay leaves and garlic salt. Bring to a boil, lower heat, cover and simmer for 45-60 minutes, until meat is tender. Add carrots and potatoes; simmer until tender. Add mushrooms and cook a few minutes longer until mushrooms are cooked through. Adjust seasonings, to taste. To thicken, mix cornstarch with enough water to form a smooth, slightly thick mixture; stir into stew, remove from heat and serve. Europe is north of the equator, and in the north eastern Hemisphere. There are about 63 million people in Europe today.
