John Tyler was born on March 29th, 1790, in Charles City County. John Tyler was the sixth child of a wealthy plantation family. When John was seven his mother died. John was a polite and kind boy but he could stand up for himself when he had to. John Tyler died in 1862, about ten months after the Civil War began. Luckily, he never saw the destruction of the southern states he loved so much. He became the governor of Virginia. He joined a volunteer army group. John’s first wife died in 1842.


His first wife dies while John Tyler was in office, John was the first U.S. president to get married while in office, and John Tyler sent explorers to check out the Oregon territory the farthest northwest region of the country.
