Latest News LCWFC’s Home meeting with Guiseley Vixens postponed again. The home league meeting with Guiseley Vixens was originally scheduled for Sunday 22nd October, however Leicester’s progress in the FA WPL Cup meant that the fixture was postponed.

FA WPL Round-Up LCWFC Vs Derby County Ladies is the only fixture in the Northern Division tonight, meaning that Leicester City Women could go 2nd with victory tonight.

Then scheduled for the 15th October, the match has again been postponed, this time due to Guiseley’s County Cup progress.

In the Southern Division, there’s four midweek games. Leader’s Charlton Athletic look to continue their 100% start to the season with a home match against West Ham United.

The game is still waiting for it’s third date, which hopefully will be third time lucky for the fixture. Leicester’s away trip to Guiseley is scheduled for Sunday 11th February.

Meanwhile the chasing pack might end the week further away as 2nd place Lewes FC Ladies travel to 3rd place Crystal Palace Ladies. The first ever Women’s Football Yearbook was launched earlier this month. BBC Sports Journalists Chris Slegg and Tom Garry have colated all of the key statistics and results from the 2016/17 season as well as information on all of the teams taking part within both the WSL and FA WPL Pyramids for the 2017/18 season. The yearbook is now available to buy on Amazon for £19.99 and includes all of Leicester City Women’s results for the 2016/17 season and an indepth history into the Women’s Football game. LCWFC Update Leicester City Women finally got their first win at their new home on Sunday with a 3-2 victory over Huddersfield Town having trailed 2-1 at the break.

Manager Jonathan Morgan has stated previously the club’s desire to push as far as they can in the competition. “We reached the Semi-Final of the FA WPL Plate last season, and we were unlucky to lose in that match against Lewes Ladies. We want to push as far as we can in the FA WPL Cup this season and hopefully go at one step further.”

Nat Johnson netted a second brace of the season to take her overall tally to 5 level with top-scorer Sophie Domingo. Leigh Dugmore netted the winner for the Foxes who created numerous chances in the second half and could have would by more than a single goal, having hit the woodwork twice and having two goals dissalowed.

The Draw for the Women’s FA Cup 1st Round Proper took place on Monday 9th October.

The Foxes host Derby County today before turning their attention back to the FA WPL Cup where they host Bolton Wanderers Ladies next Sunday.

Teams from the Northern and Southern Divisions will enter at the 2nd Round stage where 24 teams will remain in the competition from the 1st Round.

The tie is one of 16 matches in the First Round Proper.

4 teams remain in the competition from the 7th Tier; New London Lionesses, Godalming Town, Alnwick Town Juniors and Ashford Town.

“We want to push as far as we can in the FA WPL Cup this season and hopefully go one step further”

One of the ties of the Round sees Sheffield United travel to Newcastle United, relegated from the Northern Divison last season. -6-

Last Time Out LCWFC Travelled to Derby just 22 days ago, where Sophie Domingo’s 93rd minute equaliser saw Leicester leave with a share of the spoils. Leicester fell behind in the 6th minute when Andi Bell latched onto a loose ball among Leicester’s defence. Leicester pressed for most of the game but struggled to get themselves back on level terms.

City Manager Jonathan Morgan felt that his side did enough to take all three points from the match, but the equaliser arrived too late for the Foxes.

The Foxes had a number of well worked chances but it took until the 93rd minute for Sophie Domingo to latch onto a great through ball and level the scores at 1-1.

City’s equaliser denied Derby a first home victory of the season and the Ewe Rams are still in search of it after Sunday’s 1-1 draw with West Brom.

Sister Clubs Leicester City Women’s first ‘Sister Club’ have reached 5 straight league wins with a 3-0 win over Ollerton Town. East Midlands Womens Regional Premier League

Ollerton started the day in 2nd place but have fallen to 5th on goal difference. Player Focus Up until Sunday it had been a strong but frustrating start to the season for us. We had played some great football but struggled to turn good performances into points. We have had a couple of disapointing draws but the squad has kept working hard in order to try and turn these into wins as the season goes on.

Nat Johnson

We’ve been training hard on and off the ball every week knowing that the hard work will pay off. We are all linking up really well and our fitness has shown throughout the season so far. Thanks to this, the squad put in a fantastic performance against Fylde last week and we took confidence from that into the game against Huddersfield on Sunday. Against Huddersfield, we managed to show character to come from behind to take all three points for the first time at our new ground.

The girls dug in for each other and our togetherness and belief in ourselves was clear to see.

“The girls dug in for each other and our togetherness and belief in ourselves was clear to see.” We will go on to the next few games full of confidence, knowing that this is where our season really starts to kick on. The squad this year is unparalleled in its strength and depth and that’s going to give us that extra edge going forward. - 10 -

The Visitors

Derby County @DerbyCountyLFC Derby County Ladies are still in search of their first home win of the season, despite leading for the majority of the home game against Leicester, it was Sophie Domingo’s 93rd minute equaliser which denied the Rams their first home victory. On the road however, Derby have been much more succesful, an opening day win over Stoke City and a recent 2-1 win over Bradford City have come alongside some well earned draws.
