The sole does not lie evenly flat on the feed dog, and therefore feeds the fabric unevenly, causing the desired gathering. The slot on the foot enables a flat piece of fabric to be sewn directly onto the piece being gathered in a single operation. The gathering foot is available in a narrow and a wide version. The latter is for sewing machines with 9mm stitch width, but may also be used with 5.5mm machines. The basting-stitch function lets you create more pleats on thick fabrics. With all fabrics, higher thread tension produces narrower pleats.

Ruffler # 86 Although the ruffler looks somewhat complicated, it’s easy to handle. When inserting this attachment, take care that the fork arm comes to rest around the needle screw. The up-and-down movement of the needle causes the ruffler blade to move in and out, taking hold of a bit of the fabric each time and slipping it under the needle.

Buttonhole foot with slide # 3A / 3B / 3C Buttonhole foot with slide # 3B is particularly useful for stitching repeating buttonholes on machines that do not have an automatic buttonhole feature, such as mechanical models and some of the activas. The desired buttonhole length is marked with the aid of the scale on the slide. On most computerized models Foot # 3A or # 3C may be used in conjunction with the ‘quick reverse’ function button on the sewing machine’s head frame to program the marked buttonhole length.

Bobbin cases
1
The black-latch bobbin case is used with CB-hook machines for thicker bobbin threads, such as cordonnet and silk ribbon. The gold-latch (rotaryhook) bobbin case is recommended for embroidering with the embroidery module. The chrome-plated bobbin cases are ideal for all usual sewing projects and are vailable for CB (oscillating) and rotary-hook systems.

Trapunto collection vol. 1 A traditional technique discovered once again! This technique of Trapunto has its origin in Sicilia (Italy) and it has been known since the 14th century. The traditional way of achieving convex Âeffect that contrasts plastically from the background is by tufting the motifs with fiberfill. Our Trapunto Collection provides the possibility to achieve this effect completely on your embroidery machine; fiberfill won’t be needed anymore.

The CutWork Software lets you design the embroidery motifs of your choice on your PC, then cut them out with great precision from up to 15 fabric layers at a time with your BERNINA sewing and embroidery system. To do this, simply insert the patented CutWork Cutting Tool instead of the sewing needle. With CutWork, you’ll whip up divine shapes from a variety of fabrics for home-dec projects, appliqués on garments, or especially beautiful quilt designs. Combine the cut edges in no time flat with embroidery, for elegant, traditional drawn-thread work. Cutting really can be this fun – and elegant! To work with the BERNINA CutWork Tool, you‘ll need the appropriate CutWork stitch plate, as well as the Echo-quilting and CutWork foot # 44C.
